Tire Cologne: Association claims visitor numbers similar to Reifen 2016

Company News, International News

When we compared the visitor headcount at last week’s The Tire Cologne exhibition with those at Reifen 2016 two years earlier, we noted visitor numbers were down around 20 per cent this year – a figure we reached by examining the official post-show reports released after each respective event. The former industry association partner to Reifen and current partner to The Tire Cologne says the figure for Reifen 2016 was a case of over-inflation, and points to statistics supporting this.

Eagle-eyed visitors to Reifen 2016 may have noticed that the Remog stand was staffed by Wegmann Automotive employees. In response to questions from Tyres & Accessories regarding the Wegmann Automotive presence, the German company confirmed it acquired its Italian competitor last autumn. Managing director Thorsten Thom states that the Italian balancing weights manufacturer, which was established in 1964, will continue to “operate independently within the market” and retain its headquarters in Rezzato. He stresses that Remog’s acquisition by Wegmann Automotive won’t affect customers in any way. Some changes, however, have taken place.
