Mitas official sponsor of Eurocup Series 2022

Mitas has been named the official sponsor of Mitas Eurocup Series 2022, the agri-flavoured competition organised by the European Tractor Pulling Committee (ETPC). This season, competitors are battling it out at nine outdoor events, with the European Championship taking place in Great Eccleston at the end of August.

Rpower: VSG to phase out Butler workshop equipment brand

Vehicle Service Group (VSG) is currently represented in the Europe, Middle East and Africa by seven brands, but its new brand strategy will cut this down to two. This ‘Rpower’ strategy will place the focus upon Ravaglioli and Rotary. The other five brands, including Butler, will be phased out.

Toyo Tire names new bosses for US manufacturing business

As of 1 July 2022, new faces will join the management team at Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing, Inc. Shinji Tanabe will become chairman and chief executive officer of the company responsible for Toyo’s tyre plant in Georgia, whilst Patrick Matthew Lenz takes on the roles of president and chief operating officer.

EcoVadis awards Pyrum silver status

An inaugural assessment by EcoVadis has resulted in a Silver Medal for Pyrum Innovations AG. The sustainability ratings provider awarded Pyrum, which has patented a pyrolysis technology for the sustainable recycling of end-of-life tyres, an overall score of 59 points. This places Pyrum amongst the worldwide top 25 per cent of all companies in its industry assessed by EcoVadis.

Nokian Tyres begins ‘controlled exit’ from Russia

Due to the war in Ukraine and subsequent, tightening sanctions, Nokian Tyres plc has determined that it is “no longer feasible nor sustainable” to continue operations in Russia. The Finnish tyre maker’s Board of Directors thus decided today to initiate a controlled exit from this market. Exit preparations start immediately and Nokian Tyres will evaluate different options for its departure, with “due consideration to local employees and legislation.”

Michelin to continue R&D with Hyundai

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Michelin and Hyundai Motor Group will facilitate the development of a new generation of tyres optimised for electric vehicles (EVs). The three-year agreement, a follow-up to the partnership of November 2017 that resulted in an exclusive Michelin tyre for the Hyundai Ioniq 5, covers joint work on tyres containing an increased level of eco-friendly materials, tyres optimised for next-generation EVs as well as a real-time tyre monitoring system for autonomous vehicles.

Impossible to resume production – Michelin transferring Russian operations

After suspending its manufacturing activities in Russia on 15 March, Michelin now confirms that it is “technically impossible to resume production,” due in particular to supply issues, amid a context of general uncertainty. It says Michelin Group is “therefore compelled” to plan the transfer of all of its Russian operations by the end of 2022.
