For the second time in a row, Goodyear’s Wrangler DuraTrac tyre has been chosen as the best off-road tyre by readers of the specialised German magazine “Off Road”. It won in the category “Traction Tyres,” in which readers were invited to vote for one of 10 competitors.
While we know that something like 20,000 people attend the Reifen show in Essen at the end of May, you may be surprised to learn that data and software firm DriveRight is claiming that as many as 10 per cent of these approached the company during the event. According to DriveRight, 64 per cent of enquires were from international clients.

The organiser of the inaugural RubberTech Europe fair reports a successful debut at Reifen 2014. China United Rubber Corporation (CURC) says RubberTech Europe “met with a very positive response amongst the exhibitors and the visitors” and “supplemented the range on offer at Reifen in very way.”

On 31 May Linglong Tire signed an two year sponsorship deal with the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA). The partnership, which will see financial and material assistance extended to Uganda’s national basketball team, is the first of its kind in the African Continent.
Pirelli has become the first premium brand tyre manufacturer to confirm that it will exhibit at Brityrex International. Pirelli’s direct involvement represents a something of a coup for the British tyre market show, taking place at EventCity, Manchester on 7-9 October. While the show was able to attract Michelin Training Centre in 2012 – a returning exhibitor in 2014 – this year’s Brityrex is increasing its profile with both major and second-tier tyre brands, a fact that organiser SingEx-ECI expects will increase its appeal.

It’s no secret that trade exhibitions such as Reifen primarily serve as venues for maintaining business relationships and for meeting new customers or suppliers, and Deldo Autobanden used the show week to its full potential. When Tyres & Accessories dropped by the Antwerp-based wholesaler’s stand it was typically brimming with activity; during a quieter moment, marketing and communication management assistant Jente Vermeiren shared that Reifen had more than met Deldo’s expectations.

At Taiwanese tyre maker Cheng Shin Rubber’s Annual General Meeting, the son of company founder Lo Chieh (Luo Jie) was appointed the firm’s new chairman of the board. Lo Tsai-Jen (Lo Cairen), previously vice-chairman, replaces his 88-year old father as chairman effective 17 June. Lo Tsai-Jen became vice-chairman of the board in 2010; prior to that he served as general manager.
