Shanks ‘reduces vehicle downtime’ with Vacu-Lug tyre service management

Shanks Waste Management has selected Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres to manage its commercial vehicle tyres for a number of recycling centres throughout the UK. Using Vacu-Lug’s bespoke web-based VMS software programme, each Shanks vehicle is individually managed to provide a full monitoring, repair and tyre husbandry service. This includes Shanks’ entire fleet of delivery and collection vehicles, including roll-on-roll-off hook-lifts with drawbar trailers and a mixture of plant and OTR wheeled equipment.

Hankook supplies new BMW M4 GT4 at Nürburgring 24h

As the exclusive supplier to the new TCR and GT4 classes competing in this season’s VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring, Hankook will be in the thick of the action. The manufacturer states that one of its highlights of the weekend will be the race debut of the new BMW M4 GT4, which will run on Hankook racing tyres. The race coincides with the customer racing version of the car going on sale, also equipped with Hankook’s racing tyres.

ZC Rubber Thailand adds two-wheel production line

Snetterton hosts the third event of the British GT Championship season this weekend, with a pair of one-hour races to be contested by a provisional field of 28 supercars all equipped with Pirelli P Zero tyres.

The Parts Alliance Group acquires BMS Superfactors

The Parts Alliance has acquired BMS Superfactors, their Greater Manchester-based associate member. BMS Superfactors has four branches in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and Dukinfield, collectively employing over 120 staff.

Avon launches Spirit ST hypersport touring motorcycle tyre – video

Avon Tyres has launched its latest sport-touring tyres, the Avon Spirit ST, in Portimao earlier this month. The newly appointed brand ambassador, Steve Parrish attended the launch and tested the new tyre. The motorcycle racer turned television commentator has raced on Avon tyres throughout his classic racing career. The manufacturer’s launch video for the tyre is available below.

Zeetex launches all new winter tyre range, including all-season fitment – videos

Zeetex has launched its next generation winter tyre range, introducing it first all season tyre for the European market. The brand introduced the tyre patterns: WP1000, WH1000, WH1000 SUV, WQ1000 and WV1000, covering a full winter range of PCR, UHP, SUV, 4×4, and van tyres, as well as the all season car tyre, the ZT4000 4S. The launch event was held on board a luxury cruise from Hamburg to Oslo.

Cooper launches ‘Tread Wisely’ mobile app

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has launched the new Tread Wisely mobile app. Designed to promote tyre and vehicle safety among teens and young adults, the app was created the app in partnership with the National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS). Cooper says it empowers young drivers by putting safety information, how-to videos and unique features directly into their hands when and where they need it most. The app is free and available for download from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Pirelli announces compound choices and mandatory sets for Hungary grand prix

Pirelli has announced that it will bring the P Zero Red supersoft, Yellow soft, and White medium compounds to the eleventh round of the 2017 Formula One season at the Hungaroring (28-30 July).

Avon marks diamond anniversary of first 100mph TT lap

Avon Tyres’ motorsport team will mark the 60th anniversary of the first ever 100mph lap at this year’s Isle of Man TT (27 May-9 June). Set on Avon tyres, the record-breaking lap was ridden by legendary Scottish rider Bob McIntyre on a four-cylinder Gilera, running on Avon’s Speedmaster GP race tyres.

First Stop appoints Bentley as retail business consultant

First Stop has appointed Nic Bentley as its new retail business consultant. Bentley promises the national network will back “entrepreneurial” independent garages. He arrives in the role having gained an understanding of First Stop through his time as a key account manager at Euro Car Parts, where he built up a partnership between the two companies. Bentley has more than 20 years’ experience in the automotive industry, following additional roles with Unipart and also Castrol.
