Operators take control using Vacu-Lug’s tyre management system

Vacu-Lug has upgraded its VMS management system, adding a self-authorisation function to allow customers to validate and authorise work carried out on their vehicles from their own computer. Customers using the added function are also able to accept or reject their own pending authorisations and query transactions if necessary. Vacu-Lug states that VMS provides complete transparency and takes away the hassle of having to deal with suppliers directly.

“This latest development means customers can keep a close handle on tyre jobs being carried out within their fleet, improving consistency and preventing errors, while at the same time giving absolute transparency – all in one package.” says Gary Johnson, Vacu-Lug’s Commercial Manager. “The information is available to access entirely at the user’s own convenience 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This gives Vacu-Lug customers ultimate control over their own tyre management, as they always have the final approval.”

The company adds that peace of mind “is assured as the customer can be confident that no work will be invoiced without their authorisation.” Through the system, detailed daily reports are sent to each customer, which can be accessed through their unique log-in. Where a customer queries a job or requires more detail, they simply fill in a comments box which is automatically sent back to the VMS team for clarification.

VMS-upgrade2Although originally intended for recharging vehicles not on contract or for those extra vehicles added on an ad hoc basis to a fixed price contract, self-authorisation has now been adapted to work for pay-as-you-go customers as well, thus allowing them to control expenditure of all the vehicles within their fleet. Adding comments through the secure web portal ultimately saves customers time – removing the need to make a phone call or write an email – while still providing a detailed trail which is held within the system.

VMS is a live, web-based system designed to assist in the effective management of vehicle fleets. It captures detailed information on all tyre and service-related activities, including transactional and financial details at wheel position level. Utilising VMS enables fleet operators of all sizes to view numerous reports including financial summary, tyre fitment detail and fleet inspection reports. The online software enables remote access to all of the system’s management tools via a dedicated and secure web portal, which is accessible 24/7.
