Giti Tire has added 27 sizes to its ultra-high performance GitiSportS2 range. Launched in 2021, the tyre was developed using Giti Tire’s globally-integrated, company-wide R&D system, AdvanZtech, and features a new compound that offers extremely high levels of grip which has resulted in an A grading for wet braking. Rolling resistance is measured from B-E. Fabio Pecci-Boriani, senior product manager PCR, SUV, Light Truck for Giti Tire (Europe), described the GitiSportS2 as: “The most technologically advanced, best performing, and dare I say the most exciting UHP tyre ever developed by the European R&D team.”
Petlas has introduced four new run-flat sizes for its PT741 ultra-high performance pattern, namely,. Specifically designed for ultimate performance, PT741 offers an excellent combination of performance and safety (245/40R 20 Reinforced, 285/35R 18, 285/35R 19 and 225/35R 20 Reinforced). According to the company, Petlas run-flat are capable of distances up to 200 km without “any integrity problems”.
The first tyre for cars and SUVs from Giti Tire’s eponymous brand is now available in the UK, in a strictly limited series of 10 GitiSportS1 sizes, split equally between the original UHP tyre, launched in 2016, and the SUV version, unveiled in June 2018. The 10 sizes, which have no current equivalent in the manufacturer’s GT Radial range, are distributed by Micheldever Tyre Services, though the wholesaler has no exclusive agreement on Giti brand products.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries’ Falken brand has reached new levels of performance over the past few years, evinced by its latest range of high performance car tyres picking up magazine test plaudits against premium brand competition.
Large investments in research and technology over the last few years have enabled Grouptyre’s exclusive brands to develop some excellent alternatives within the competitive high performance market at realistic and affordable prices. The wholesaler notes that tyre retailers are demanding increased diversity in the high performance market to meet the wide range of consumer demands at all price points.
Maxxis’s new Victra Sport 5 received its full launch at The Tire Cologne, as the June issue of Tyres & Accessories went to press (see Tyres & Accessories’ July issue for a more in-depth write-up). The new tyre is the latest in the brand’s range to target premium brand performance at a lower cost.

Vredestein’s Ultrac Vorti ultra-high performance tyres have been specified for a unique project: a Tesla Model S-based Shooting Brake commissioned by a Dutch collector, designed by award-winning Niels van Roij Design and built by renowned Dutch coach-builder RemetzCar.
Singaporean contract tyre producer Firenza currently presents a competitive choice for the ultra-high performance sector in the UK and Europe with a number of new patterns. The ST01A and ST06 are manufactured in Thailand by what Firenza describes as a world-class producer.
Avon Tyres’ Motorsport division is also using its knowledge from race programmes to develop its high performance car tyres. Its partnership with competitive Caterham championships has spanned more than 25 years and is still going strong. This year the brand retained the title sponsorship of the Roadsport Championship, which is for drivers fresh from the Caterham Academy starter series. This grassroots sport is what underpins Avon’s “arrive and drive” ethos – transferring its expertise and development from the production of race tyres to passenger car products that are track-ready.
Enjoy Tyre is meeting the competitive but growing UHP segment through its two major established brands, Rotalla and Routeway. The company states that its latest tyres meet current industry expectations ensuring superior fast-track performance in driving style and comfort. Over the last decade, Enjoy Tyre states that it has annually sold over one million tyres, while adding new patterns and sizes and upgrading of tyre label ratings for both summer and winter ranges.
Cooper Tire Europe launched a limited edition Cooper Zeon CS8 ahead of the Cooper Tires World RX of Great Britain at Silverstone. As the official tyre supplier and associate partner to World RX, Cooper was also the title sponsor of the new Silverstone round. The Northamptonshire track hosted World RX as part of the Speedmachine festival on 25-27 May.
Maxxis is currently holding its European distributor conference in Marbella, Spain. Scheduled to take place between 11 and 14 September, the conference welcomes some of the continent’s leading names in tyre distribution, with over 14 EU countries represented, along with delegates from both China and Taiwan.
