In-person TyreSafe Briefing scheduled for 7 July at National Football Centre

The 2022 TyreSafe Briefing will return as an in-person event on Thursday 7 July after two years of online presentations. St George’s Park in Burton Upon Trent, home of the National Football Centre, will host the briefing, featuring a high-profile line up of road safety stakeholders and tyre industry representatives who will deliver key information, demonstrations, and interactive exhibits. The event is open to pre-registered supporters and road safety stakeholders, with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Stuart Jackson, TyreSafe chair, calls the briefing “a huge milestone” for the organisation.

2020 Tire Society meeting goes virtual, theme: intelligent transportation

The 39th Tire Society Conference on tyre science and technology, which runs from 28 September to 2 October, will be held entirely
virtually for the first time this year, due to the Covid pandemic. However, it will still feature 27 original works of tyre technology presented by the authors and a special topic paper on the 40+ year history of the Tire Society as well as a keynote address, plenary address, invited lecture and panel discussion.

NTDA cancels 2020 Conference, Annual Dinner, Awards

The NTDA has cancelled the 2020 Tyre Industry Conference, Annual Dinner and Tyre Industry Awards. The event was scheduled for Thursday 5 November at the VOX Conference Centre Birmingham. It is the first time the annual dinner has been cancelled since its first edition in 1930. NTDA chief executive Stefan Hay said that the decision had not been taken lightly. It was initially hoped that the event would go ahead as per the government’s scheduled restart date for business events of 1 October, and is a reminder that the Covid-19 situation continues to overshadow UK business planning. The 2021 Tyre Industry Conference and Annual Dinner and Awards is scheduled to take place on 7 October in Birmingham.

GSF Car Parts cooks up customer event

GSF Car Parts has hosted its final customer event for 2016, with an evening dinner for around 100 people at Sulgrave Manor, the Tudor and Georgian house built by ancestors of first US President George Washington. Hosted by members of the GSF team, the group of area managers were kept busy cooking and catering to eager dinners, under the expert guidance of professional chefs. Accommodation was provided locally for those that wanted to stay – and the party lasted late into the evening.

Hella Gutmann Solutions CSC tool used to research high safety standards

Diagnostic equipment supplier Hella Gutmann Solutions (HGS) has a long standing business relationship with independent research centre, Thatcham Research. The firms recently hosted the Repair Focus event, attended by major bodyshop groups and insurance companies, with HGS recalibration system tools for the aftermarket used to carry out specific tests to establish the correct safety procedures when repairing a vehicle. Thatcham has recently issued the ADAS Glazing Code of Practice, which gives clear guidance on the recalibration of ADAS systems during the replacement or refit of windscreens.

Bridgestone backing Bush Tyres-organised Props and Pistons event

Bush Tyres and Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre have assembled some of the world’s most iconic planes and automobiles for a fifth annual extravaganza with the support of Bridgestone. The Props and Pistons event, which will welcome £20 million worth of luxury cars and some of the most famous wartime aircraft, will take place on Monday 31 August, with proceeds going towards Leukemia & Lymphona Research.

Falken, James Deane bring smoke to Goodwood Festival of Speed

Falken was able to put the spotlight on its drifting activities at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend, in conjunction with European drift champion and Falken Motorsports professional drifter James Deane.
