Visitors to this week’s LAMMA show are amongst the first to see a new Alliance radial tractor tyre, the Agri Star II. Alliance Tyre Group (ATG) will launch the Agri Star II around the world in the weeks following its LAMMA debut, with 76 SKUs across the 70-s and 85- series available right from the start. Bridgestone now holds 4,167,653 shares in Nokian Tyres.
Linglong Tire has begun making car tyres at its newest factory in China. These first Linglong Crosswind 4×4 HP tyres from the Hubei Linglong Tire Co. Ltd. car tyre plant in Jingmen were produced on 30 December, five weeks after the production of truck and bus radial tyres commenced. Company employees and local dignitaries were on hand to witness the occasion.
As of mid-January 2020, Soo II Lee will become president of Hankook Tire America Corp. Together with German distributor Bohnenkamp, ATG has helped its tyres reach new heights by sponsoring an expedition upon the highest active volcano in the world, Ojos del Salado. The expedition team, driving Mercedes-Benz Unimog U5023 trucks fitted with Alliance tyres, reached an altitude of 6,694 metres during their quest to install life-saving solar-powered emergency radio communication systems in high mountain shelters. This feat broke the previous truck and car altitude records.

In a statement issued on 24 December, the shareholder family of founder Les Schwab shared that “given the complexities of a fifth-generation family business and managing a company of our size, we are at an important point in the life of Les Schwab Tire Center.
Bridgestone’s position within the motocross tyre segment has been strengthened by its selection by Britain’s most decorated rider of all time, who labelled the range as “amazing”. Linglong Tire has entered into a cooperative agreement with Chinese car-making joint venture company SGMW. The new partnership commenced with the signing of a strategic cooperation framework agreement at SGMW’s headquarters on 30 December. Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate on product design, development, application, quality assurance, cost optimisation and manufacturing over a long-term basis.

Cooper Tires has been confirmed as exclusive tyre supplier for Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship. It takes over in this capacity from Toyo Tires, and as such from 2020 the championship will be known as the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy Presented by Cooper Tires.
On 21 December, Linglong Tire signed a tripartite strategic agreement with Tencent Cloud and Shenzhen Huazhi Technology Group. The tyre maker hopes that this deal, signed by the three parties at Tencent’s global headquarters, will help it build a “global industrial service platform and intelligent retail platform.”
