New research shows that, while British motorists try to avoid the stresses that can be attributed to long drives by planning their journey ahead of time, most don’t do proper vehicle checks.
The research of 1,000 British motorists finds that over a quarter (26%) of drivers prefer to map out the route and just under a fifth (18%) like to check they have the right insurance cover before setting off. And only 1% of motorists admitted they don’t plan at all.

US-based publication Time has chosen the Vision concept tyre from Michelin as one of its ’25 Best inventions of 2017’. In addition to admiring the tyre’s airless structure and use of recycled materials, Time considered the Vision’s “most impressive feature” to be its 3D printed treads, which can be swapped to accommodate varied road conditions without changing the tyre itself. The Vision “certainly makes a compelling case” for how future tyre technology may look, the publication opined.

A fourth product will enter the Dunlop hypersport tyre portfolio early next year. This is the SportSmart TT, a tyre derived from Dunlop’s road-focused SportSmart Range. Developed to “meet the needs of riders with the very latest sports bikes and performance roadsters who want to use the same tyre on track and for road riding,” the SportSmart TT completes Dunlop’s 2016-announced new approach to the segment, which involves a redefinition of its range around the goal of a ‘tyre for every rider’.
In the third quarter of this year, Nexen Tire increased its turnover by 12.1 per cent to KRW 526.9 billion (£360.9 million). This growth resulted from varied performance in the company’s regional markets. While sales were slightly down in North America and in Nexen’s home market of South Korea, the country’s third largest tyre maker turnover in Europe was up by 34 per cent, to KRW 143.9 billion (£98.5 million). Sales within the original equipment sector were also higher, and accounted for approximately half the overall increase in turnover.
Prometeon Tyre Group isn’t maintaining a presence at this year’s Agritechnica, however that doesn’t mean the new Pirelli agricultural line is entirely absent from the show. A Heuver Tyrewholesale representative commented that negotiations to determine UK distribution rights were “still ongoing” at the time Agritechnica commenced.
