Toyo Tires has been announced as the tyre supply partner to the new Z Cars Racing Series in 2017. The manufacturer will supply the Proxes R888R tyre, already present in a variety of British club motorsport series, to the busy grid of BMW Z3 and Z4 cars. Gary Feakins Racing (GFR) has partnered with MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) to create what they hope will be an accessible, yet aspirational series. They hope it will provide a quality, yet affordable, grid and a stepping stone to higher formulae, such as GT racing.
Dunlop continues its support as tyre supplier for the 2017 FIM Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships on their tour of the Americas, with round two at the Autodromo Termas Rio de Hondo, Argentina on 9 April and the Circuit of the Americas, Texas on 23 April. Two weeks later the Dunlop-shod machines embark on their first race appearance of the year in Europe, at Jerez, Spain on 7 May. The tyre supplier will continue to record overtakes for its 2017 #ForeverForward award.
James L Welsh & Sons specified Michelin SprayBib and XeoBib tyres for its Unimog sprayer five years ago. Now the Ayrshire-based farmer and contractor predicts the tyres will outlast the machine’s first full life in service. The hard-working ex-demonstrator Mercedes-Benz Unimog U400 was supplied by South Cave Tractors and has clocked up more than 6,000 hours in operation – and still has approximately 40 per cent of tread depth left on each set of tyres.

Dmack will roll out its final new tyre for the World Rally Championship season at next week’s Tour de Corse, the first all-asphalt round of the 2017 series. The hard compound H6+ version of its Dmack Grippa DMT-RC22 will be supplied to drivers competing in WRC and WRC 2. The event will also host the first round of the FIA Junior World Rally Championship, for which Dmack is official partner and tyre supplier.
Trelleborg will increase its agricultural, forestry, and construction products by an average of 14 per cent. Trelleborg states that raw materials have faced a price increase of approximately 50 per cent, compared to the average price in 2016.
Hexpol has today acquired 100 per cent of Trelleborg Material & Mixing Lesina s.r.o from the Trelleborg Group. The divested operation develops, produces and supplies polymer compounds. The majority of its sales are to external customers and a minor share to a small number of Trelleborg facilities in Europe.

FIA World Endurance Championship Porsche teams Dempsey-Proton and Gulf Racing will run on Dunlop tyres in their global campaigns following comparative testing. Both teams have experience of working with Dunlop in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), where the brand is the sole tyre supplier to the LMGTE class. Both teams will race in the LMGTE AM class of WEC, including the Le Mans 24 hour race.
WAIglobal has received excellent feedback from Nexus Automotive International SA, a global alliance of automotive aftermarket leaders, on its range of window regulators with customers urging fellow aftermarket businesses to “order today”. Kostas Daskarolis, vice president of Viacar Greece, said: “We introduced WAI window regulators into the Greek market last year. From the very beginning the feedback from the market was positive due to the comprehensive range, package and most importantly, the price.”
GSF Car Parts has seen a late spike in interest from garage technicians eager to comply with the new 2017 CPD requirements imposed on all MOT testers by DVSA, ahead of an end of March deadline. Under the changes, which come into effect for the first time this year, MOT testers will no longer need to attend the five-yearly refresher course but are instead now required to complete annual training and assessment.

Little (ADL) has released a new study, “The Future of Automotive Mobility.” Based on a global survey of 6,500 participants, including customers, industry players and regulators, the report examines how the megatrends of electric mobility, car sharing and autonomous driving are likely to impact on the global automotive ecosystem and future OEM sales.
