Kwik Fit has raised £1 million for its first selected charity of the year, Children with Cancer UK. The UK’s leading charity dedicated to the fight against cancer in children and young people was chosen following a vote open to more than 5,000 Kwik Fit employees across the UK last year.
Steve Eke, 52 of Kings Lynn, will be joining the fight against prostate cancer by running this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon for Prostate Cancer UK.
On Sunday 22 April Steve will be pounding the pavements across the capital’s fabled 26.2 mile course to support the leading men’s health charity against a disease that kills one man every hour. He will be a part of Prostate Cancer UK’s 180-strong squad, all raising money to stop prostate cancer being a killer.

The report highlights an increase from 466 enquiries during April to June to 909 enquiries during July to September. BEN, the automotive industry benevolence charity, is to close the Alexandra House care home in Southport. The closure is said to be due to the relative incompatibility of the building with the increasing frailty of residents and the infeasibility of improvements. The news was met with disappointment from sections of the tyre industry especially NTDA members in the North West, who have been particularly supportive of Alexandra House for decades. No decisions have yet been made about whether or not BEN will establise a replacement care home located in the North West or not.
The Maxxis Babes, the tyremaker’s promotional team of models, attended the Autosport International show at the NEC in January and £2,275 was generated from sales of their calendars. The money went directly to the charity dedicated to help anyone affected by cancer.
