BEN’s royal visitor

Prince Michael of Kent

HRH Prince Michael was warmly welcomed by senior managers of the automotive industry charity, including Chief Executive, David Main and the trustees who serve on the Lynwood Development Committee. Also present were leading local dignitaries including The Worshipful Mayor and Mayoress of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

The new Lynwood care centre will incorporate leading aspects of global best practice and design and will completely replace the existing centre, offering residents a host of modern facilities in which to receive the exemplary care already offered at Lynwood.

David Main, BEN’s Chief Executive, commented: “It was a great honour to welcome Prince Michael to Lynwood, and a moment of immense pride when he laid the foundation stone. A Royal visit was also a great way to say a big thank you to the many people who have worked extremely hard to bring us to this point.” Prince Michael has strong affiliations with the motor industry; Patron of the IMI, he is also President of the Royal Automobile Club.

As well as the laying of the stone, Prince Michael took time to meet a number of residents before joining forty other guests for lunch, during which he cut a cake to mark the occasion and was presented with a copy of the book: “The Heart of an Industry – BEN’s one hundred year story” outlining the way in which the charity’s care and support has developed over the years to meet the changing needs in society.
