Magna Tyres doubles OTR tyre capacity in Netherlands plant

When Magna Tyres Group officially commenced production at its Obo Tyres plant in Hardenberg, the Netherlands on 11 January, Obo general manager Peter Schrijver told us that high levels of efficiency, lower transport costs and lower import duties make it “very cost effective” for Magna Tyres to manufacture in Europe. He also said that Magna had placed a further order for 23-, 26- and 29-inch presses and would undertake measures to effectively double capacity. Just over half a year on, the company has completed its first expansion in Hardenberg. According to Magna Tyres, OTR tyre production capacity is almost twice what it was at the start of the year.

Magna AG23 for agricultural trucks and trailers

Magna Tyres Group has released another ‘Made in Holland’ tyre, the Magna AG23. The product that rolls out of the company’s plant in Hardenberg, the Netherlands is specifically designed for fitment on agricultural trucks and trailers and features a tread design optimised for agricultural and transport applications.

Construction, mining, earthmover tyres well-represented as Hillhead 2018 sets attendance record

Tarmac’s Hillhead Quarry near Buxton in Derbyshire hosted unprecedented crowds for the 2018 edition of the show (26–28 June), with official figures showing a record-breaking 19,687 unique visitors in attendance, surpassing the show’s previous highest attendance record set in 2005. The show also included more exhibitors (527) than ever before, with the showground, pavilions and demonstration areas showcasing the latest plant and equipment for the quarrying, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, recycling and construction sectors, many of the products on show for the first time in the UK.

Magna MA04+ OTR tyre range released

Product News

The latest generation of OTR tyre for rigid dump trucks from Magna Tyres is now available. Called the Magna MA04+, the E4 tread radial is designed for surface mine applications and is produced in seven popular sizes, 27.00R49, 33.00R51, 37.00R57, 40.00R57, 46/90R57, 50/80R57 and 59/80R63. Compound options include cut resistant (A), heat resistant (B) and standard (S).

But while many players have redirected excess capacity to Europe in the hope of claiming market share from retreaders, one tyre company has embarked upon a different approach. Magna sells 32 51-inch tyres to Saudi Arabia

Magna Tyres reports that the first batch of 16 36.00R51 MA09 tyres (of a total of 32) en route to their destination in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where they will be mounted on two giant crushers. These crushers are constructed by Thyssenkrupp in Germany for one of the leading cement companies in Saudi Arabia.

18 months ago one of Magna Tyres’ customers operating in a quartzite deposit in Germany started working with 26.5 R25 Magna MA08. More than a year and a half later, the tyres are still said to be “in excellent shape”, despite the tough working conditions in which they were deployed.

Magna Tyre Group introduces MA11 for compact wheel loaders

The Magna Tyres Group has launched its new tyre for compact wheel loaders, the Magna MA11. The radial tyre features an E2/L2 tread pattern designed for construction applications, such as roads, residential housing, and commercial properties, and landscaping. It is the latest addition to the Magna product range and is available in tyre sizes 365/70R18, 405/70R18, and 405/70R20.

MEA office the next step in global expansion, says Magna Tyres

Magna Tyres Group has opened a new office to serve the Middle East and Africa regions. The office is based in Ras Al Khaimah, in the United Arab Emirates, and its set-up follows last month’s appointment of Vijay Nambiar as the office’s general manager. Magna Tyres views the new office as the next step in the company’s “worldwide expansion.”

OBO acquires MTP Tyres Benelux distribution rights

OBO Tyres has acquired the exclusive distribution rights for the OTR brand MTP Tyres in the Benelux region. The brand offers new tyres for a wide range of applications, including articulated dump trucks, graders, loaders, cranes, and dump trucks. OBO states that the distribution rights fills a gap in its portfolio of products for its extended home market.

Magna agricultural tyres now available

The first agricultural products have joined the Magna Tyres Group portfolio. The Dutch company says a number of Magna AG01 tractor tyres are now available for shipment directly from its main warehouse in Waalwijk. At present a total of 21 sizes, 85, 70 and 65 series products, are available.

Magna the tyre of choice for Emerson Crane Hire

Emerson Crane Hire has opted to fit Magna tyres to its vehicle fleet in the UK. Commenting on this decision, Stephan van Leeuwen commented that the Magna Tyres Group is “very proud” of Emerson’s decision to select Magna for its large fleet. The regional sales manager for the UK and Ireland shares that Emerson carried out numerous tests and decided, due to their efficiency and cost per mile, that all tyres demounted from fleet vehicles will be replaced with Magna tyres. Magna Tyres Group will supply Emerson Crane Hire its MA03 crane tyre in size 445/95R25.
