Prinx Chengshan’s flagship tyre brand has entered the European market in style at a lavish event in Milan, Italy. Hosting tyre distributors and dealers from all around Europe the brand chose the European fashion capital as its launchpad to signify its bullish expectations for the new range, which arrives offering fitments for a comprehensive range of applications, premiumised technologies, and a European marketing strategy openly setting mid-range-plus targets from the off. During a day of driving workshops at Alfa Romeo’s historic La Pista circuit, Tyres & Accessories was able to trial two Prinx tyres fitted to Tesla Models 3 and Y, and Mercedes AMG A Class hatchback and SUV models: the Xnex Sport EV UHP tyre designed for electric vehicle compatibility, and the Quattura 4S all-season tyre. T&A also spoke to several representatives from the brand’s European team about its new products and aspiration to make its mark on the European tyre segment. Prinx to launch European range on former Alfa Romeo grounds in Milan

Prinx Chengshan will celebrate the European launch of its new flagship tyre brand Prinx next week in Milan. The brand’s tyres will be available for guests to try at La Pista, an historic racetrack located on the former grounds of Alfa Romeo. The three-day event will give delegates insights into Prinx’s brand strategy and market ambitions. Europe CEO Thomas Wohlgemuth is looking forward to the event and promises an entrance that will set out the manufacturer’s stall for its developing European business. “The entire setting is super. Prinx is a force to be reckoned with in the future, true to our brand claim ‘Leave a mark’”.

Prinx arrives with 2 EV-specific tyres

Prinx is the new flagship brand of Prinx Chengshan Tire Europe and following their public debut at The Tire Cologne in 2022, the market launch of the first Prinx products is imminent. Wholesalers can now order the XNEX Sport and XLAB Comfort, which together are obtainable in a range that covers 45 sizes and 69 articles.

Falken targets UHP market with latest all-season tyre

A new tyre has joined the Falken Euroall Season line-up, and Falken Tyre Europe tells us that this product is “designed specifically for high-performance vehicles,” with development focusing on “good all-round winter performance.” The Falken Euroall Season AS220 Pro is available in a range of 46 dimensions.

Sustainability & Performance: Sailun launches Atrezzo ZSR2

Sailun Group Europe has introduced several new tyres featuring its EcoPoint3 liquid-phase mixing technology. One of these products is the Sailun Atrezzo ZSR2, a tyre hailed by its manufacturer as the “ultimate combination of sustainability and performance.” Atrezzo ZSR2 is available in sizes for 17- to 20-inch rims, 205 – 275mm tyre widths, 30 – 55 cross sections and speed ratings W and Y.

Giti collaborates with global racing equipment supplier Sparco in joint-branding agreement

Giti Tire has signed a multi-year global co-branding agreement with Sparco, one the world’s leading manufacturers of motorsport safety systems and racing equipment. The Giti brand becomes global automotive tyre partner of the Italian brand under the deal, while the slogan “Giti – Powered by Sparco” will appear on the sidewall of key UHP sizes from 2024. The development of these products will form a “bridge” between the businesses, according to Sparco.

Sportauto latest to acclaim Conti SportContact 7

Continental’s SportContact 7, WhatTyre Tyre of the Year 2022, added to its impressive tally of test victories as it was named the “outstanding” tyre in the Sportauto summer tyre test 2023. Elsewhere there was a very notable showing for the “very good” Firestone Firehawk Sport, one of only two tyres to record above-average ratings in all three disciplines rated in Sportauto’s final analysis – wet, dry and environmental. The tyre infiltrated the group of five premium brands in the top half of the rankings, beating its Bridgestone stablemate, the Potenza Sport, and the Pirelli P Zero PZ4. The magazine tested eleven tyres in size 225/40 R18 92Y XL mounted on an Audi S3.

Triangle EffeXSport UHP tyre achieves labelling ‘milestone’ for manufacturer

Triangle Tyre’s new ultra-high performance tyre, the EffeXSport TH202 has achieved a milestone in the Chinese manufacturer’s development of greatly improved products targeting growth in the UK and wider European markets. The tyre has achieved the top A-grade rating for wet grip on the European tyre label on more than half of its size range. Triangle unveiled the new flagship product at The Tire Cologne 2022 in preparation for its European market introduction in 2023. It said that its latest advanced technologies had allowed Triangle to bridge the trade-off between performance and comfort, developing a tyre with “excellent results” in dry and wet braking, driving precision, stability at high speed, and wear resistance.

Auto Bild: Performance still has its price in sporty tyre sizes

For its summer 2023 test, Auto Bild Sportscars lined up a baker’s dozen of size 225/40 R18 tyres and fitted them to a Toyota GR Yaris, a car that highlighted “both the sporting qualities and the weak points” of each and every candidate after “just a few bends” of track. When the dust & water spray had settled, five tyres proudly wore Auto Bild Sportscars’ top ‘exemplary’ rating.

Vredestein expands Quatrac Pro all-season UHP tyre range

Apollo Tyres is adding 17 new 18-21” fitments to its Vredestein Quatrac Pro ultra-high-performance (UHP) all-season tyre range. The tyre is now available in 103 dimensions for 17-22” rims. The new sizes will be added to the range in the first half of 2023. The new sizes offer options tailored for front or rear axles for front, rear and all-wheel drive applications. Apollo says the new sizes will ensure the Quatrac Pro remains suitable for a very diverse range of cars and SUVs. These include performance variants of the Mercedes G-Class, BMW 4 Series, Range Rover Velar, and Audi Q3.

Firestone launches Firehawk Sport, an ‘affordable high performance summer tyre’

Bridgestone’s mid-range Firestone brand has launched a new “affordable high performance summer tyre”, the Firehawk Sport. The manufacturer says the tyre builds on the US-origin brand’s “strong legacy,” emphasising improved steering response, wet grip and dry braking characteristics versus the predecessor Firehawk SZ90mu. Bridgestone is marketing the tyre as a product to help drivers “feel empowered and in control at all times;” it targets its Firestone brand primarily at younger UK and European drivers, who are brand-conscious but also demanding greater affordability. It wants to leverage the long-term brand value of Firestone, which has a century-long heritage in motorsport and innovation, to achieve this.

FEDIL award for optimised Goodyear UHP tyre development

Goodyear has optimised its UHP tyre development by combining different techniques and disciplines through a statistical model, a process it used when working on the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. FEDIL has recognised Goodyear’s step forward with a 2022 Innovation Award. The Luxembourg-based multisectoral business federation has honoured the tyre maker in the ‘Process’ category of its awards.

MatraX Tyres makes debut at Automechanika Dubai 2022
