Apollo has launched the Aspire XP in a total line-up of 52 SKUs, replacing Apollo’s range of Aspire 4G and Apterra HP tyres. The new summer car tyre, which is available now, is being exhibited at the Geneva International Motor Show between 8 and 18 March. The Apollo Aspire XP is manufactured in Europe at the Apollo Vredestein plants in the Netherlands and Hungary.
Apollo Tyre’s continued attendance at the Geneva show is about more than just having a stand in a prominent position a high profile motoring event. And it’s about more than communicating the brand value of its Manchester United association or the merits of its latest marketing campaign too. Those things are clearly all in place but – as Tyres & Accessories learnt during the course of the 2017 Geneva Show – this event has always been about building OE relationships.

Have you ever gazed at your car’s tyres and thought “they’re just too black for my liking”? If your answer is yes, Pirelli has something you may be interested in. The company has brought a new tyre to the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, and it features sidewall colouring similar to that seen on Pirelli’s Formula 1 tyres. This new Pirelli coloured edition is an add-on to the P Zero and Winter Sottozero ranges, and utilises materials that ensure the colour remains vivid throughout the tyre’s life. Pirelli says coloured edition tyres can be obtained in any colour the customer wants.

In short, Pirelli Connesso is an integrated sensor, receiver, cloud and app platform that is designed to give motorists the most in-depth and near real-time status and service integration that has yet been offered.
Four in every five new Porsche 911 GT3s will be fitted with specially-developed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 N1 ultra-high-performance tyres, in 245/35 ZR20 front and 305/30 ZR20 rear sizes. The road-legal track tyre is a specially modified version developed as part of the ongoing technical partnership of the German car maker and Michelin – designated by the N1 marking. Compared to its N0 marked predecessor, Michelin says the Pilot Sport Cup 2 N1 offers improved lap times and stability, as well as more sporty handling. The new 911 GT3 was launched by Porsche at the Geneva Motor Show.
In addition to its new ultra-high performance product, Yokohama has launched a new fuel-efficient global standard tyre, the BluEarth-Es ES32 (BluEarth-Es). The Yokohama A008P was the first Yokohama Rubber tyre to gain OEM approval from Porsche. Shortly after its launch in 1989, the A008P was selected as an original equipment fitment on the Porsche 911 type 964. This initial Porsche homologation was a significant moment for Yokohama Rubber, and the Japanese manufacturer thus considers the A008P the product that “paved the way for Porsche’s steady use of Yokohama brand tyres.” Now it’s back – Yokohama Rubber announced the return of the Yokohama A008P at a press conference during this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
Falken will line up on the Nürburgring Nordschliefe grid with two premium German racing cars for the first time, adding a BMW M6 GT3 to the Porsche 911 GT3 R (Type 991), which debuted at the 2016 event. Falken’s Porsche was the fastest in the 24 hour race, finishing in ninth place overall. Falken will enter both cars in various VLN endurance races as well as the Green Hell event; the team says competing with two different but current GT3 vehicle marques is unusual, but confirms the depth of experience of Falken’s tyre engineers and the wide-ranging performance of the tyres. Falken’s long-term partner, Schnabl Engineering, will supervise and support the two vehicles throughout the season.
