Construction and property maintenance specialist Princebuild is rolling out Michelin’s CrossClimate+ and Agilis CrossClimate tyres across its entire fleet of 180 cars and vans. The move will ensure its vehicles benefit from traction all year round; the Peterborough-based company made the decision to switch after a meeting with Michelin showed the statistics and improved safety its CrossClimate range of tyres could offer.
In the more than two years since Continental Tyre Group acquired Bandvulc, both the Conti360° Fleet Services network and the Bandvulc Plus+ fleet services continued to run in parallel, with customers receiving services from both brands. This will now change – Continental Tyre has announced the merger of Conti360° and Bandvulc Plus+. The two operations will unite as Conti360° Fleet Services, with Bandvulc’s key partners joining Continental’s current Conti360° Fleet Services.
What brand of tyres does a tyre distributor use on its own fleet? In the case of Stapleton’s Tyre Services, the answer is Michelin. The company began trialling Michelin Agilis CrossClimate tyres across 25 Renault Master vans in March, and determined it could be clocking up an extra 20,000 miles per set compared to its existing policy.
The first update made to the ContiConnect digital tyre monitoring platform has gone live. Continental has added further functions to the web portal and refreshed its look. The new features also link ContiConnect services directly with fleet operations, enabling digital monitoring data to be used during tyre maintenance.
Following the introduction of new high-load models, Falken Tyre’s RI151 regional tyre is proving its performance and durability in one of the harshest commercial environments, the waste and recycling sector.
A further development of Continental’s ContiConnect digital tyre monitoring platform will be showcased at the upcoming IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Germany. The evolution that Continental will show is said to be a “new solution that can be integrated into existing systems,” specifically a solution that will give these systems a digital tyre monitoring capability. Continental says it will announce further details at a press conference on 19 September.
Wiltshire-based M&N Transport has taken on Michelin’s Effitrailer telematics system following a successful three-month trial on ten assets. The bulk haulier, which specialises in grain and aggregates, is now rolling out the system across 40 trailers – six of these are new builds and 34 are in the process of having it retrofitted.
Following on from its fitment of Michelin CrossClimate+ tyres to 148 rapid response Skoda Scout cars last year, East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) has now moved its 449-strong blue light ambulance fleet across to a 100 per cent Michelin Agilis CrossClimate tyre policy. The rollout will see 332 Fiat Ducato accident and emergency ambulances and 117 Peugeot Boxers fitted with Michelin rubber.
Girteka Logistics has chosen Goodyear as its main tyre partner for the 4,000 trucks and 4,300 trailers it operates on its pan-European freight services. Under this partnership, Goodyear tyres will be supplied to cover 80 per cent of the fleet’s requirements. Girteka operates two and three axle tractor units and mainly refrigerated tri-axle trailers, along with a growing number of tilt trailers.
A new flagship customer has signed up to Goodyear Proactive Solutions in Europe. Hoyer Mineralöl-Logistik, based in Germany and part of the Hoyer Group, has chosen Goodyear Proactive Solutions to track the tyre condition of its dangerous goods transport fleet in real time.
Following its entry into the UK fleet market last year with through deals with several medium-sized operators, Apollo Vredestein has landed its first fleet agreement for 2018 with Heathrow-based aviation logistics specialist CCH Logistics. The yearly contract will include the replacement of all CCH vehicle tyres, which are currently “other OE and replacement premium brands,” with Vredestein products. Tyrepress.com understands that tyre fitting and maintenance will be carried out by local firm Tomato Tyres.
Car service operator Addison Lee’s adoption of a Michelin CrossClimate+ policy, managed by Universal Tyre and Autocentres, has resulted in a reduction in its annual tyre bill of 20 per cent, the operator of the UK’s largest passenger car fleet states. Justin Patterson, head of operations at Addison Lee, says: “We’re currently fitting around 5,000 fewer tyres per year than we did prior to introducing the first CrossClimate tyres.”
A plan announced by Hankook Tire and Schmitz Cargobull last year to develop aftermarket trailer tyre business has been extended by a new agreement that makes Profile Tyrecenter Corporation the trailer manufacturer’s tyre service partner in the Benelux region.
In addition to its acquisition of Hoosier Racing Tire, Continental AG reports it has taken an approximately 81 per cent shareholding in US fleet management solutions provider Zonar Systems Inc. Upon announcing the share purchase, Continental noted that its involvement in Zonar has the potential to “chart the course of the future of smart fleet management” around the world.
