Hoyer operation becomes Goodyear Proactive Solutions customer

Hoyer has already mounted the Goodyear TPMS on the trailer tyre rims of 175 trailers

A new flagship customer has signed up to Goodyear Proactive Solutions in Europe. Hoyer Mineralöl-Logistik, based in Germany and part of the Hoyer Group, has chosen Goodyear Proactive Solutions to track the tyre condition of its dangerous goods transport fleet in real time.

The one-stop solution provided to Hoyer includes an advanced fleet management monitoring system, premium tyres and a full-service network across Europe. Goodyear comments that the system supports important fleets such as Hoyer in their digital transformation with the help of a real-time fleet monitoring dashboard, that includes:

• continuous collection and analysis of vehicle data to anticipate at-risk situations
• an alert system to prevent hazardous situations and vehicle immobilisation
• proactive maintenance guidance

“Obviously, we meet stringent regulations when transporting dangerous goods such as fuel. Right here, at the core of our transport services, the new digital solution from Goodyear offers an important added value since road safety is our top priority,” says Tim Exner, fleet manager and contract manager at Hoyer Mineralöl-Logistik GmbH.

Hoyer has already mounted the Goodyear tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) on the trailer tyre rims of 175 trailers. The sensors collect key tyre data, which is analysed by algorithms to determine whether proactive maintenance is required, such as to counter a slow loss of air pressyure. Fleet managers can keep track of tyre issues via the fleet monitoring dashboard.

Based on the results of third-party fleet tests involving a fleet of 120 vehicles across Europe, Goodyear believes Goodyear Proactive Solutions can reduce breakdowns by an average of 75 per cent thorugh its constant constant monitoring of tyre temperature and also save an average of 476 litres of fuel per truck as a result of permanent tyre pressure control. In addition, tyre maintenance costs are said to be decreased by up to 70 per cent on average.

The Hoyer Group operates approximately 2,400 tractor units and 2,900 tank trailers. The firm possesses some 27,200 intermediate bulk containers, 37,200 tank containers and numerous logistics facilities with depots, cleaning plants and workshops.
