Goodyear is the new ‘Official Tire Partner’ of the Nürburgring circuit in Germany. It gained this status upon expanding its existing partnership with the Nürburgring Driving Academy, the ring°kartbahn and Offroadpark to cover the entire Nürburgring organisation.
First Stop Tyre & Car Services has appointed Nikki McCluney as its new marketing manager.
Formerly HiQ’s marketing manager, McCluney brings with her over 25 years marketing experience across automotive, fast fit and retail brands having previously worked for Goodyear Dunlop, Maxxis Tyres and Halfords. Indeed, she played a key role at the HiQ rebrand while at Goodyear Dunlop in 2007 and launched the chain’s concept store while in the role.
Following the news that The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has appointed ex-Brisa and Bridgestone executive Hakan Bayman as president of Goodyear’s consumer tyre business in Europe, it has emerged that former Goodyear Dunlop UK MD, Erich Fric has been appointed as Goodyear managing director Europe Central. Both appointments are effective 1 July 2020.
Goodyear plans to acquire a tyre wholesaler in Germany. Should the deal gain approval from the relevant antitrust authorities, Goodyear Dunlop Tires Germany GmbH will purchase Weilheim, Bavaria-based wholesaler and retailer Reifen Baierlacher. The tyre maker has not disclosed how much it will pay for the family-owned business.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd. Has appointed Dominic Clifford as global Avon motorcycle manager. He is responsible for worldwide sales of Avon motorcycle tyres and is based in Melksham, Wiltshire, where he reports to Jaap van Wessum, General Manager EMEA, Cooper Tire Europe.
Effective Monday 16 July 2018, Mark Brickhill has become Klarius Group chief executive officer which covers Klarius Products, machine specialist KMT and related tools/consumables business Emissco. Brickhill is well known to the tyre industry having previously been Goodyear Dunlop UK MD and other executive positions within Goodyear’s EMEA operation.
Jürgen Titz has taken on further responsibilities within Goodyear’s European organisation. In addition to his role as group managing director of Goodyear Dunlop’s DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) organisation, a position held since June 2015, Titz has now taken on responsibility for passenger car tyre sales in the Europe Central region. This recently enlarged sales territory includes the three Benelux markets as well as the DACH countries. This region, or ‘hub’ in Goodyear Dunlop parlance, is a different entity to the Goodyear Dunlop Central Europe cluster, the tyre maker adds.
At the start of this year, Erich Fric took over as managing director of Goodyear Dunlop Tires Europe’s consumer business within the Europe North region. Fric’s region of responsibility in this new role includes the Nordic and Baltic markets, as well as Russia and the CIS countries.
During the annual Nissan Europe Supplier Quality Seminar, representatives from Nissan’s Purchasing Department recognised Goodyear Dunlop’s “excellent quality performance in supplying automotive components to Nissan.” Although it announced news of this honour today, the tyre maker was awarded at a ceremony that took place at the Nissan Brand Center in Barcelona, Spain last September.
