‘IDEA’ honours for two Nexen tyres

The best designers and manufacturers of the year were recognised on 3 July at the Red Dot Gala 2017 event in Essen, Germany, and amongst the products selected by the 9-strong Red Dot judging panel were five tyres; these gained ‘Red Dot’ awards in Product Design. The awarded tyres are the Continental PremiumContact 6, Federal 595RS-RR, Laufenn I FIT, Kumho Crugen HP71 and Nexen N’Fera RU1.

Nexen Tire has announced that prices for its tyres will increase in all European markets as of 1 June. The Korean manufacturer’s range of passenger car tyres – summer and all-season – will rise linearly by four per cent.

Nexen Tire has redesigned its global website, nexentire.com. The revised site offers information on Nexen Tire products, services, general tyre information, news and campaigns, and corporate information in a format that fits PCs, tablets and smartphones.

The nexentire.com site is said to be more “digital friendly” and in addition to displaying corporate and product news, including a comparative Key Performance Indicator function, visitors to the site can read and view content uploaded to Facebook, YouTube, or various blogs, and also share content from the website with other social media platforms. As expected, the site is designed for use with a number of devices.
Korean tyre manufacturer Nexen has announced that it will raise prices by up to 9 per cent across its different product segments and dimensions.

Travis (Ho-chan) Kang, chief executive officer of Nexen Tire, has taken part in the official inauguration of a new joint venture company set up to sell the Nexen and Roadstone tyre brands in Japan. The joint venture is called Nexen Tire Japan Inc. and is 51 per cent owned by Nexen Tire, with Toyota Tsusho Corporation, the Toyota Group’s trading arm, holding the remaining 49 per cent share.
Under an agreement recently signed between Nexen Tire and Pirelli Latam Participacoes LTDA, Pirelli is now the exclusive distributor of Nexen car, SUV and van tyres in Brazil. The Nexen products have been distributed through the official Pirelli network within the country since November 2016.
Stapleton’s states that it has for several years engaged in expansion, rationalisation and consolidation of its nationwide distribution operation. As a result, the wholesaler says its new regional hubs and larger delivery fleet are yielding advantages for retailer customers. Wholesale director Nigel O’Hara said the company’s “constant focus on our retailers’ individual needs… sets us apart.” The company’s recent efforts have been in translating the benefits of being a national distribution operation to “real competitive benefits” on a local and personal basis.”
