Stapleton’s SUV tyres to tackle tough conditions, market

The UK’s largest wholesaler, Stapleton’s acknowledges this growing interest in SUV tyres while adding that uncertainty in our domestic market as inflation rises, sluggish growth, and the reduced value of the pound are adding to the case for cheaper products in the SUV/4×4 segment. The wholesaler backs up Goodyear’s point that the current market has been good for premium brands, with demand for such products strong in the SUV/4×4 segment.

“In any business, at any time it’s sensible to be prepared for whatever the market and the competition fires at you – and now it would appear the road ahead is full of unseen perils and tricky twists and turns,” comments Stapleton’s wholesale director Nigel O’Hara. “So it’s somehow fitting it’s the 4×4 tyre sector that looks like driving us and our retailer partners comfortably over the ups and downs, peaks and troughs and challenging economic terrain ahead – and with a comprehensive range of 4×4/SUV tyres covering the whole of the sector at every price point,”

In addition to the premium brands, Stapleton’s offers a range of exclusive brands to help tackle these “challenging times,” including Nexen, Maxxis, Matador and Riken. As an established global brand, Nexen has a range of patterns and sizes to suit almost every 4×4/SUV on the UK’s roads. Designed for comfort with superb grip and braking capability on any surface, wet or dry, Nexen’s Nfera RU1 range comes in four diameters (17-20”). Its approval for the Porsche Cayenne speaks volumes about its quality, Stapleton’s adds.  Another popular Nexen tyre is the Roadian HP, which delivers stable cornering, handling and good drainage performance.

Matador is another quality mid-market range, as part of the Continental group. The MP82 Conquerra 2 is a popular all-rounder, designed with safety and driver comfort in mind for typical road use. Illustrating the breadth of the Matador range, the MP47 Hectorra 3 has a sporty design to produce good handling, shorter braking distances and wet driving safety, in addition to a quiet ride and increased mileage performance, according to Stapleton’s.

The Riken brand, which has produced tyres for European markets since 1917, supplies its 701 range of summer 4×4 tyres in 15- 18” sizes. Its distributor, Stapleton’s says that the tyre’s water evacuation performance is impressive, giving good levels of grip in wet and wintry conditions (the tyre is M+S marked) as well as on dry roads, thanks to high-density sipes and four longitudinal grooves.

“With these 4×4/SUV offerings we believe we can help them and their customers almost literally to ride roughshod over the economy’s ups and downs,” O’Hara concludes. “They have the right solution for every 4×4 driver, with uncompromised quality, durability and performance at extremely competitive prices.”
