Systems provider to the tyre industry, CAM has announced that it will host the inaugural UniSerV user group event before October’s NTDA dinner. Anne Sherwood, business support manager of Tructyre Fleet Management will chair the event on Wednesday, 8 October 2014 at Manchester’s Hilton Deansgate at 14:00.
MAM Software reports that tyre dealer Paul Jarrold Tyres Ltd has experienced significant growth since using MAM Autopart Tyres, MAM Software’s flagship business management solution for the tyre industry. Paul Jarrold has now extended its operations by purchasing the premises next door as a result of opening new revenue streams and enhancing the customer experience.
Software and data firm DriveRight reports that it will release a variety of new products including a new version of TyreFit (version 4.0) at the Reifen exhibition in Essen, Germany in a week’s time.
At Essen, DriveRight is to release the next version of TyreFit 4.0 which has a new integrated search for tyre product data including images and label information. A new wheel database with multiple search functions as well as TPMS data in the vehicle database is also included in this one tool.
SE Tyres is to introduce software developer CAM’s Online Tyre Catalogue (OTC) into its fast fit centres network. The system is designed to simplify stock profiling and product management, increasing accuracy and enhancing the presentation of tyre data to consumers.
Most of us know the ‘20p test’ but in the years to come we’ll be able to spend our loose change rather than use it to gauge tread depth. Continental says it intends to add an automatic tread depth reading feature to its eTis (electronic Tire Information System) and aims to make this available for fitment on new vehicle models by 2017. According to Continental, this new feature is made possible by “intelligent software” that deduces tread depth from gradual changes in tyre rolling characteristics. An in-tyre pressure sensor infers running characteristics from the variations in tyre deformation.
Milltek has launched a new Ford Focus ST250 exhaust system, which according to the company, is fruit of the exhaust maker’s motorsport relationship with BTCC. As a supplier to the Motorbase BTCC team, and the Airwaves Racing and Crabbies Ford Focus racecars, it’s fair to say that Milltek Sport has experience in getting the best out of Ford’s capable hot-hatch. Indeed Milltek was one of the first tuners in the UK to gain access to the Focus upon its launch, adding one to its development fleet.

On 1 February 2014 legislation came into effect within the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) to allow for euro transactions to be processed more easily across all European Union member states. A new study by BOVAG, The IGA’s European counterpart, has found that only six of 13 manufacturer websites examined in the study allowed the researchers to successfully establish a connection between the vehicle and the manufacturer’s website.

IBM has published an angry response to the lawsuit filed by Bridgestone America’s alleging IBM’s computer system threw the tyremaker’s “entire business operation into chaos.” IBM insists that its Bridgestone’s mismanagement of the project that caused the problems, according to Business Insider International.
