Michelin Earthmover TPMS Available Worldwide

Date: 12th November 2008 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Michelin has announced that the company’s MEMS (Michelin Earthmover Management System) product is now available all around the world.

The French manufacturer says that MEMS is the only electronic system for monitoring earthmover tyre temperature and pressure to be marketed worldwide. The global rollout follows an extensive series of field trials that began in 1996 and the system’s launch in North and South America in 2006.

The system stores, transfers and analyses tyre data and can be integrated with existing tyre management systems to improve monitoring, maintenance, uptime and tyre life. MEMS includes electronic tags located in each tyre and an on-board receiver in the vehicle cab. The tags transmit real-time pressure and temperature data to the receiver, which relays the information to the mine control centre. The data can also be sent via a handheld unit, which is used for external monitoring of tyres on trucks while they are in operation. Real-time controls reduce the vehicle downtime needed to verify and adjust tyre pressures. When tyre pressure and/or temperature reaches the predefined alert level, the receiver sends a signal to the control centre so that action can be taken before any damage occurs.

MEMS is compatible with Klinge’s Total Tyre Control software, Modular Mining Systems’ Dispatch and MineCare products, as well as Framy and Jigsaw solutions.
