Telematics expert, Tracker (part of the Tantalum Corporation) is getting behind BEN’s annual fundraising car rally Bangers4BEN for the very first time. To celebrate its support, Tracker is fitting complimentary battery-operated fleet telematics units to every car taking part.  Friends, family and rival competitors will be able to keep track of the progress of participating teams here.

IGA helps raise funds for BEN

UK News

The Independent Garage Association (IGA) will be taking part in this year’s Bangers 4 BEN charity challenge in aid of BEN.

The event which kicks off on 10 -13 October will see Ian Ramsden and Terry Gibson driving the course of the UK, France, Germany and Belgium in an Audi A4 – donated by In Town Automotive in Northampton, which will then be auctioned off at the end of the event.

IAAF BEN golf event ‘most popular ever’

The IAAF has concluded its most popular summer golf day programme ever with one golfer achieving a hole in one. IAAF golf events at Worsley Park, Nr. Manchester and Forest of Arden, Meriden, Warwickshire were in support of industry charity BEN and more than 20 company teams took part.

NTDA Zenises Golf day attracts record numbers

The annual NTDA Zenises Golf Day completed a hat-trick of appearances at the world-class Brocket Hall venue in July. With 81 members out on the golf course and over 100 joining together for the evening’s dinner and entertainment, 2015 saw record numbers of participants for the NTDA Zenises Golf Day.

BEN London to Paris cycle ride raises £25,000, with more to come

BEN, the automotive industry charity is extremely proud of their dedicated London to Paris 24 participants who cycled the 240 mile journey in less than 24 hours. So far, the team have raised over £25,500 for BEN with funds still coming in.

‘Inspirational’ Kate raises money for BEN

BEN, the automotive industry charity is elated to announce that Kate Weaver, whose family has benefitted from BEN’s help, ran a 5km park run in under 40 minutes at Quarry Park in Shrewsbury only 18 months after being told that she might never walk again. So far, Weaver has raised over £800 with funds still coming in for BEN and Dr Gardner’s Charity for Nurses.

BVRLA karting race raises £6,000 + for BEN

The 2015 BVRLA Broker200 has raised more than £6,000 for automotive industry charity BEN. The endurance race took place on 13 May, and was organised by the BVRLA’s Leasing Broker Committee.

A desire to prove you can challenge your body to the extreme despite ongoing medical problems will see The Parts Alliance’s Andy Hurst ride from London to Paris in just 24 hours. Hurst, a Pricing and Management Information Manager at The Parts Alliance, will be raising money for BEN, the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund.

BEN is calling for keen cyclists to complete its London to Paris 24 hour challenge to help raise funds for the automotive industry charity. The closing date to register for the charity event, which will see the cyclists cover 240 miles in just 24 hours, is the end of March.

Manbat’s BEN supply deal reaches seven-year milestone

Manbat, the UK’s largest automotive battery distributor, has been a long-standing and practical supporter of the automotive industry charity, BEN. However, rather than undertaking well publicised, but sporadic, short-term money raising events, Manbat has adopted a consistent, service-centric and below the radar approach in the form of a supply agreement. Under this agreement, whenever a beneficiary that uses some form of battery-powered mobility equipment requires a new battery for it, Manbat will deliver a replacement and collect the failed battery, anywhere in the country and completely without charge.

Automotive Challenge Cup launched in aid of BEN

Sunsail Events, experts in organising corporate team building sailing events, have announced ‘The Automotive Challenge Cup’, an inaugural team racing event in aid of BEN, the automotive charity. Setting sail on Thursday 18 June 2015, teams spend the day learning the ropes and racing against each other, on board the only matched fleet on the Solent, meaning any team can win.

Robin Shaw joins Bridgestone

At the end of October 2014, Robin Shaw took over as the managing director of Bridgestone’s North Europe region, which includes the UK as well as the Nordic markets. Shaw replaced John McNaught who had been with the company for 12 years. He joined at a time when reorganisation is taking place within the wider European business and when a number of key UK and North region managers have either retired or gone off to pastures new. Tyres & Accessories caught up with Robin Shaw as he was en route to Brussels for one of many meetings he has had with European executives during the beginning of his tenure.
