TireHub, the US national tyre distributor cofounded by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (Goodyear) and Bridgestone Americas Inc. (Bridgestone), started selling Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels as an authorized national distributor on 1 May. The Mickey Thompson brand specialises in off-road orientated 4×4 products and came to Goodyear in the last couple of years as a result of the company’s acquisition of Cooper.
Fast-growing tyre wholesaler, GB Tyres, has begun construction of its new Oldbury tyre “storage and distribution facility”. As we reported back in September 2022, despite existing storage space of roughly 250,000 square feet across two large sites in the midlands the business requires much more space.
Sam Kato is the new president and chief executive officer of TBC Corporation, which through its companies is active in the tyre wholesale, retail and fleet/automotive service sectors throughout North America. He succeeds Laurent Bourrut, who is retiring after completing his assignment to “position the company for strategic growth amid the evolution of the tyre industry.”
Following our report naming GB Tyres as the new distributor of Kenda tyres, GB Tyres have confirmed the appointment and added further details. GB Tyres has indeed become UK distributor of Kenda passenger car, SUV, 4×4 and van tyres and the company is said to be “looking forward to an ongoing partnership with the brand”. Specifically, GB Tyres has already accepted delivery of its first Kenda containers and a selection of the range is already available. According to officials, the range of Kenda stock available for immediate delivery will continue to grow over the coming weeks and months.
GB Tyres has been appointed as exclusive distributor of the Kenda Tyres brand in the UK. The news follows a meeting between Sukhi Singh, managing director of GB Tyres and Henno Plaggenborg, director, automotive division Europe at Kenda Tyres today.

Yokohama Corporation of North America (YCNA) has sold the assets of Missouri-based tyre wholesaler Friend Tire Company (FTC) to tyre dealer network and retreader Southern Tire Mart (STM). The agreement was finalised on 1 April 2023.

Over the past year or so, Global Automotive Investments Holding (GAI) has acquired a significant stake in Tyremotive GmbH, but managing director and co-founder Jochen Freier initially retained his almost quarter share in the German tyre and wheel wholesaler. Freier has now sold and stepped down as MD “at his own request” on 31 January 2023, leaving behind him a 100% GAI-owned business.
A freshly-signed agreement sees Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) become the exclusive UK distributor for Petlas passenger car, 4×4 and light truck tyres. Petlas is the third exclusive brand MTS has taken on since its acquisition by Sumitomo Rubber Industries in 2017

The Hardenberg, Netherlands-based business has appointed van den Heuvel its Director Sales and Olimulder Director Operations. Both report to Heuver Group CEO Bertus Heuver and CFO Elmer Wiemer.
Growing tyre wholesaler GB Tyres has named Dan Woodward as the company’s new marketing manager. The appointment marks Woodward’s return to the tyre industry after time exploring opportunities in the automotive and technology fields. Woodward has more than 15 years tyre industry experience, including marketing and brand management positions at Trelleborg, Kumho and Bridgestone.
