Volkswagen fits Hankook Ventus tyres fitted on Golf GTI, Golf R, Tiguan R

Hankook has won three more original equipment tyre fitments from the Volkswagen Group. It is supplying its ultra-high performance Ventus S1 evo 3 to the Golf GTI und Golf R, while the Tiguan R will roll on either the Ventus S1 evo 2 SUV or evo 3 SUV. The sporty variants of each VW model will benefit from the tyre manufacturer’s flagship UHP tyre technologies, with the Golfs running on 235/35R19 91Y tyres, and the Tiguan R SUV rolling on either the 255/40R20 101Y XL S1 evo 2 SUV, or the 255/35R21 98Y XL S1 evo 3 SUV variants.

Nexen tyres OE for VW Golf & Seat Leon

The eighth incarnation of the Volkswagen Golf and the fourth generation Seat Leon are both now available ex-works with Nexen N’Fera Sport tyres. Nexen Tire will supply original equipment tyres for these two cars in size 225/45R17 91W.

Bridgestone Turanza Eco gets VW Golf 8 original equipment approval

Bridgestone Turanza Eco tyres have become an original equipment for Volkswagen’s eighth generation Golf. The new model includes a number of cutting-edge technologies, such as a semi-autonomous mode and a new suspension technology improving its handling and driving dynamics. The custom-designed Turanza Eco tyres add to this technological focus. They are designed to enhance the Golf 8’s upgraded driving dynamics, with the tyre manufacturer’s Enliten Technology reducing rolling resistance, weight, and materials consumption. VW has also approved Nexen’s N’blue S and Winguard Sport 2, and Vredestein’s Sportrac 5 and Wintrac Pro tyres as OE for different iterations of the Golf 8.

Vredestein tyres OE on VW Golf 8

Three Vredestein models have gained approval as original equipment tyres for the latest generation of Volkswagen’s perennially popular Golf. The Golf 8 will be available with the Vredestein Sportrac 5 in size 195/65R15. Buyers opting for winter tyres can receive their Golf equipped with the Vredestein Wintrac Pro in the same dimension or the Snowtrac 5 in size 205/55R16.

Bridgestone launches Blizzak LM005 winter tyre with A-grade wet grip

Bridgestone has launched its newest winter tyre, the Blizzak LM005. Continuing from the LM001 which heralded a new generation of the manufacturer’s cold weather rubber, the Blizzak LM005 features a new tread pattern and the tyre-maker’s new Nano Pro-tech compound. These developments have helped Bridgestone produce a tyre to compare favourably with existing market competitors in snow and ice braking and wet grip, according to tests conducted by independent testing institute TÜV SÜD.

Remus launches cat-back exhaust system for VW Golf GTI MK7 Clubsport

Remus has launched a new performance exhaust system for the new Mk7 Golf GTI Clubsport. The system is designed to improve performance and sound, with a Racing downpipe with sports cat to be fitted in conjunction with the Remus front silencer. The exhaust also features a resonated stainless steel cat-back centre section and a connection tube which enables the mounting of either the L/R sports exhaust or the non-resonated L/R Racing axle back system.

New Volkswagen record as 1.99M passenger cars delivered

Volkswagen has delivered nearly two million passenger cars in the first four months of 2014, setting a new record for the period. 1.99 million vehicles were handed over to customers in the period to April, representing an increase of 4.6 per cent (January-April 2013: 1.91 million). Christian Klingler, board member for sales and marketing for the Volkswagen Group, attributed the success to “good sales developments in China and Europe” and “sustained high demand” for heritage products such as the Golf, now in its seventh generation.

Bridgestone LM001 launch

Bridgestone has launched its new Blizzack LM001 winter tyre for small to mid-sized cars in an event at its Swedish Proving Ground in Vidsel, less than 100km from the Arctic Circle. Following on from the introduction of its Blizzack LM-32 winter tyre for higher performance cars in August 2013, the tyre is designed to improve snow and wet performance, as well as in longevity.
