Remus releases performance exhaust for VW Golf and Scirocco

Remus has launched a new exhaust for the latest VW Golf, including the cabriolet variant

Remus has launched a new range of exhaust systems for Volkswagen’s flagship Golf VI and its extensive variants. The company has added fitments for the popular cabriolet version and the redeveloped Scirocco coupe too, with options for the 1.2 engine and both power variants of the 1.4s, and the ability to take advantage of the firm’s Powerizer system for extra power.

The core of the system consists of a series of stainless steel tubes, with systems for both the 1200 and 1400 engine cars containing fully EEC homologated centre sections. Remus adds that performance figures vary depending on the specific system chosen, but extensive internal testing has seen “notable power increases for both engine variants”.

Remus’s exhaust design also allows for the inclusion of adjustable slip-on rear tips in a variety of styles. The four tail pipe packages available include 84mm angled and chromed with spherical clamp connection; 84mm Street Race with spherical clamp connection; 84mm Carbon Race with spherical clamp connection; and 84mm Street Race Black Chrome with spherical clamp connection. Customers can even pick a twin tail pipe setup with a pair of 84mm carbon tips and titanium internals, again with a spherical clamp connection.

Remus also offers its Powerizer system, which can boost peak power by as much as 25 per cent and torque by 20 per cent, through the electronic system’s ability to toggle the engine management parameters in real time. This optimisation of the map multiple times per second allows motorists to achieve peak gas flow at any given time. The Powerizer can also improve fuel economy, thanks to the added torque created lower down the rev range. Remus technicians can optimise the system to suit the needs of the customer, though the instructions included with each kit allow for it to be adjusted at a later date should the need arise.

Finally the Remus Responder can improve throttle response by adjusting the accelerator pedal output signal, resulting in noticeably reduced response and reduced lag when applied to cars with an automatic transmission. The Responder uses adjustable programming profiles to improve fuel consumption and more efficient engine running, while the four user-selectable and customisable performance settings give drivers greater freedom to tune the system to their specific needs.
