Starco has introduced a wheel kit for Honda ATV users that require enhanced performance and endurance from their vehicles. The Big Foot, designed at the request of Honda in Sweden, is a fully-compliant kit comprising of four wheels and tyres. The combination was selected and tested for Honda and pairs steel wheels manufactured at Starco’s own factory in Beli Manastir, Croatia with Kenda Bear Claw tyres. The Honda kit is similar to wheel kits already available for other ATV brands under the Starco Big Foot name.
Hot on the heels of Kenda’s Reifen show stand in Essen, Germany, Varga Trading Company is using Automechanika Dubai as the platform to showcase the Middle East debut of the new KR-50 from Kenda. The KR 50 will be positioned as a fuel-efficient tyre for Crossover Utility Vehicles (CUVs) with special features like extreme siping and four wide circumferential grooves for improved braking performance, a solid centre rib for better flexibility and will better comfort at high speeds.
Taiwanese manufacturer Kenda has sold products into European markets for some time, but Reifen 2014 is seen as an opportunity to enhance and solidify its position. This rejuvenation of Kenda’s European business is inspired by the establishment of a new European headquarters in Oldenburg, Germany, and two key appointments.
‘Focus on Europe’ will be Kenda’s motto when the Taiwanese tyre manufacturer Kenda makes its debut appearance at Reifen 2014 in Essen in May. Kenda will present its current European portfolio and its first product development for the European market to trade visitors in the manufacturer’s hall (Hall 3, Stand 3A40).
Kenda has appointed former Hankook tyre engineer Tom Williams as vice president engineering of the Taiwan based tyre manufacturer. According to the company, he has been vice president engineering at Kenda in Taiwan since the beginning of March.
Taiwanese tyre maker Kenda intends to strengthen its passenger car tyre business in Europe, and has named the German market as a particular focus. To support its efforts, the company has opened a European headquarters in northern Germany and as of 1 September 2013 employed former GITI Tire passenger car tyre marketing director Michael Andre as its marketing and sales manager for automotive tyres.
Kenda has extended its US sport sponsorship with the addition of the Ohio State University’s Buckeyes v Minnesota Golden Gophers basketball game to its roster, which includes an association with Taiwan-descended Jeremy Lin’s Houston Rockets. In January, the Imported Tyre Manufacturers’ Association has welcomed two new members. Kenda has become the latest tyre maker to come on board, and is joined in the ITMA ranks by the Madrid-based National Association of Tyre Importers and Distributors (ADINE).
The evolution of Kenda’s original Bearclaw ATV tyre is now available, Kenda Tire reports. The tyre maker says the new Bearclaw Evo “has raised the bar in all areas of performance” and notes that reducing weight without sacrificing durability was a priority for the new tyre.
The NBA Global Games’ visit to Taiwan gave tyre manufacturer Kenda the ideal opportunity to meet up with the franchise it sponsors, Houston Rockets, and its star player Jeremy Lin. Kenda officials were invited to a private meet and greet with Lin, who entertained guests by sharing some childhood memories of Taiwan, at Taipei’s Okura Prestige Hotel.
World Champion Italian cyclist Ivan Basso was at the Kenda Tyres booth at Autopromotec on 24 May. Between 10:00 and 12 noon the cycling star signed autographs and met with fans. Kenda has launched a new passenger car tyre designed with a strong focus on decreasing fuel consumption. Hosted by Varga Trading Co., Kenda director James Lo unveiled the newly developed eco tyres in a presentation that also showed the new tyre’s low noise pattern design, addressing another EU tyre label category. Other speakers included Dr Hongder Chang, Kenda’s general manager, who outlined the company’s goal of generating sales of US$2 billion, and dealers Mohammad Shahid, from Pakistan and Nassib Daher from Lebanon. The KR 30 is manufactured in Taiwan.
Starco reports the introduction of six new sizes in the Kenda Turf505 range. These tyres are predominantly used in municipal service, but are also suited to domestic garden and landscape gardening applications.
Taiwan-based news service CENS reports that Kenda Rubber intends to invest approximately NT$10 billion (£212 million) to set up a plant in China’s Guangdong Province. At the company’s recent shareholders meeting, chairman Yang Ying Ming stated the tyre maker is acquiring 700 acres in Huizhou, and intends to relocate its existing Shenzhen factory there. The plant will produce motorcycle and bicycle tyres and daily output is expected to reach 83,000 pieces by 2016. Industry sources also say the new Huizhou factory will be much bigger than the Shenzhen plant as it will contain passenger car radial production lines intended to serve the European and US markets.
Tire Group International and Kenda are pleased to announce that they have entered into a distribution agreement for TGI to distribute Kenda branded tyres in Puerto Rico. TGI will offer Kenda’s specialty tyre segment which consists of trailer, turf, ATV and industrial tyres as well as its passenger, SUV and light truck tyres. TGI will offer both direct factory shipments as well as fill-ins from its Miami facility.
