Singapore’s Stamford Tyres has announced the death of its longstanding OTR tyre consultant, David Brooks. Brooks, 69, the brother of former Rema Tip Top UK managing director Terry Brooks, finally lost a brave fight against cancer on Sunday, 31 May. He leaves a wife, Janet, daughters, Nicola and Sharon plus grandchildren, Samantha, Louise, Joseph and Ryan.
An article has recently appeared in the British Medical Journal warning of the dangers to public health in the UK caused by air pollutants. In 2011 a report from the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee suggested that the costs to society from poor air quality were on a par with those from smoking and obesity. Air pollution has fallen sharply over the last 25 years, in particular nitrogen oxide levels have dropped by two thirds and particulates have halved. The CV Show showed significant growth in 2015, with almost 20,000 visitors; an increase of five per cent year-on-year. According to independent ABC audit data 19,807 people visited April’s CV Show at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. Giti Tire has appointed Richard Hutchins to the newly created position of senior product marketing manager – Europe for its Truck and Bus Division (TBR). The Petrol Retailers Association (PRA) has raised their concerns following news that a UK police force has declared that driving away from a petrol station without paying for fuel is no longer considered a crime. Devon and Cornwall Police said it would not investigate such incidents unless there was obvious proof of criminal intent – such as false number plates – and the force has blamed government cuts for the decision.
