With the Met Office issuing yellow warnings for icy patches and snow, driving conditions are set to deteriorate and there could be severe disruption to the daily commute. According to research commissioned by Goodyear Tyres UK, over half (53 per cent) of motorists surveyed say they find driving in the snow and ice nerve-racking, with a further 48 per cent listing de-icing wind screens in the mornings as a problem.

Hankook Tyre UK, elite sponsor of the Northampton Saints, collected for the Daventry and Northampton foodbanks earlier this month as the Club took on Newport Gwent Dragons in the second round of the Anglo-Welsh Cup. Testing of Pirelli’s 2018 Formula 1 tyres took place at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit over a two-day period this week, and following the conclusion of proceedings the tyre maker is proud to report that four-time and current champion Lewis Hamilton has declared the new PZero Pink hypersoft tyre the “best tyre Pirelli has ever made.”

With the introduction of the CrossClimate + earlier this year, Michelin made the claim that the snow traction its tyre delivered with a tread depth of only 1.6mm was equivalent to that provided by competitor tyres with tread depths of 4mm. A partnership between WMG, at the University of Warwick, Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, and Coventry City Council has been awarded £80 million to establish a new National Battery Manufacturing Development Facility (NBMDF). The president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Tony Walker, has urged government not to undermine the UK automotive industry’s hard won competitiveness due to slow progress on Brexit. Speaking at the Society’s 101st Annual Dinner in London, he said there is no substitute for free and frictionless trade, and called for quicker progress on agreeing a transition period following Brexit.
