Toyo Proxes chosen for Mazda3

The new Mazda3, launched in Japan on 24 May 2019, will run out of the factory on the new Toyo Proxes R51 A in size 215/45R18 89W. The tyre was developed jointly with the car-maker, achieving the manufacturer’s rolling resistance, dry steering stability, wet grip and comfort performance parameters, with a new rubber compound based on the proprietary material design “Nano Balance Technology”. This controls rubber material development at the nano level, and helps Toyo achieve a wide range of performances required to produce a well-balanced, advanced tyre.

Yokohama BluEarth-GT tyres for Mazda 3

The latest generation Mazda 3 went on sale last week, and Yokohama Rubber shares that its Yokohama BluEarth-GT AE51 is an original equipment tyre on vehicles sold in all markets except North America. The Mazda 3 wears the BluEarth-GT AE51 in size 205/60 R16.

Toyo Proxes OE for Mazda CX-8

The new Mazda CX-8 crossover SUV is scheduled for release in Japan in December. Toyo Tire & Rubber shares that its Proxes R46 tyre has been selected as an original equipment fitment in that market. The Toyo Proxes R46 will be fitted to the CX-8 in size 225/55 R19 99V.

Although the new generation Mazda CX-5 crossover won’t be available in the UK until the summer, it went on sale in Japan in February. Yokohama Rubber reports it is supplying its Geolandar G98 as an original equipment fitment for models sold in the that market – the tyre is being supplied to Mazda Motor Corporation in size 225/65R17 102V.

Mazda recalls 2.2 million cars

Japanese carmaker Mazda has said it is recalling 2.2 million cars worldwide because of a defect in their tailgates. The recall affects about 400,000 cars in Japan and 1.8 million sold on export markets.

Mazda chooses Yokohama tyres for America, China market models

Product News

Two tyres from the Yokohama Geolandar range have been selected as original equipment fitments for Mazda SUVs sold in certain global markets. The Geolandar H/T G056 will be available as an original equipment tyre on the CX-9 crossover when it goes on sale in North America this spring, and buyers will be able to receive the Geolandar in size P255/60R18 107H or 255/60R18 108H. In China, Yokohama Rubber will ship its Geolandar G91 to Mazda for fitment on the new CX-4. The crossover SUV will receive the Yokohama tyre in size 225/55R19 99V.

Yokohama Rubber has confirmed news reported in March that its Advan Sport V105 tyre will be fitted as original equipment on the latest generation Mazda MX-5 in size 195/50R16 84V. Yokohama tyres have been original equipment on the Mazda MX-5 since the model’s launch, and Yokohama Rubber says adoption of the Advan Sport V105 for the new model “continues this proud history.”
