Cooper Tire Europe has presented a unique Rally Sprint event at the 78th Goodwood Members’ Meeting in a new partnership. Delayed since March 2020, the eagerly awaited Members’ Meeting took place on 16-17 October. The Goodwood Rally Sprint Presented by Cooper Tires showcased Cooper’s rallying heritage with a spectacular selection of World Rally Championship (WRC) machinery. It is currently a supplier to the North American Rally Championship and the Mobil Rally Chile, as well as being the sole tyre supplier to the FIA World Rallycross Championship and the sister FIA European Rallycross Championship.
The GreenGT LMPH2G is making make its UK debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The hydrogen-powered MissionH24 endurance race car will contest the hillclimb and be showcased on the Michelin Supercar Paddock stage every day of the four-day event.
Goodwood took the decision to postpone the Festival of Speed until later in 2020 on 26 March, following advice received from the UK government and Public Health England. It was scheduled for 9-12 July. The organiser said that it is currently exploring potential alternative dates for late summer or early autumn, with tickets remaining valid for the new date. Several key tyre companies will await developments with interest, as Goodwood events are often employed as a platform for UK UHP and competition tyre marketing.
A Yokohama-shod Toyota GR Supra Drift by HKS was one of the star attractions in the Live Action Arena at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Created by custom specialists HKS, the world’s first drift Supra boasts an impressive 700bhp thanks to a number of modifications and upgrades which included the fitment of Yokohama’s ADVAN Neova AD08RS tyres to the front, and ADVAN A052 tyres to the rear.
The two Continental tyre types specially developed for the Extreme E off-road racing series have made their global debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Designed for the world’s toughest driving conditions, the new summer and winter tyres were presented to the public along with the electric SUV on which they are to tackle some of the most extreme locations across the globe.
The NIO EP9, in the hands of racing driver Peter Dumbreck, has become the fastest electric production car to ever ascend the iconic hill in front of Goodwood House at the weekend. With a time of 44.32 seconds in the Festival of Speed’s ‘Final Shoot Out’, the time also represents the fifth fastest official timed run to be set during the event’s entire 25-year history.
Michelin will be the official tyre partner of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival for a further five years. The deal confirms Michelin as the official tyre brand at the estate’s flagship international motoring events until 2022.
TVR has commissioned a bespoke Avon tyre as the original equipment (OE) fitment for the new TVR model which will be unveiled at Goodwood Revival on Friday 8 September.
Avon’s ultra-high performance ZZ5, which exists within Avon’s current tyre range, has been developed further to feature a unique performance compound and new sidewall graphics for exclusive fitment to the much-anticipated and latest TVR to launch.
