China’s ZC Rubber, manufacturer of the Westlake, Goodride, Chaoyang, Arisun and Trazano tyre brands, has shared news of its recent activities in the original equipment tyre supply business, a sector where it has been present for more than a decade. In recent months the company added Volkswagen and Ford/Lincoln to its OEM portfolio, joining firms such as Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo, Changan Auto, Great Wall Motor and Geely.
ZC Rubber has launched new flagship tyres in its Westlake and Goodride European ultra-high performance car tyre ranges at The Tire Cologne 2022. The Westlake ZuperAce Z-007 and Goodride Solmax 1 are designed to deliver quieter running, increased grip, and handling performance, ZC Rubber says. The manufacturer adds that it has upgraded the tyre structure with core technologies from ZC Rubber, BPOT technology and Hybrid formula. The Westlake ZuperAce Z-007 and Goodride Solmax 1 will be available in ranges of 17-22 inch sizes for the European market starting in June 2022. Both tyres will be fully introduced throughout Europe and Southeast Asia in the second half of 2022, following the initial roll-out.
Tyre comparison website Tyre Reviews has put ten popular tyres for performance cars to the test, making the brand-new Continental SportContact 7 a winner in its first outing on the independent assessment circuit. Reviewer Jonathan Benson fitted the ten tyre combinations to a BMW-powered Toyota Supra in sizes 255/35 R19 (front) and 275/35 R19 (rear) for the test, which he conducted over nine disciplines at Conti’s Contidrom facility. Given that the tyre was proven at the circuit, and is at least 12 months newer than any other product in this test, it is perhaps a little unsurprising that the SportContact 7 prevailed, but with reasonably comfortable first-place finishes in the dry and wet handling and braking tests, Tyre Reviews concludes that the tyre sets “a new standard for the UUHP segment.”

Lockdown has spurred many companies on to greater creativity in how they market and sell their products, and ZC Rubber is no exception. The leading growth in new car sales of SUVs has led to a surge in demand for tyres in this lucrative market. While premium tyre manufacturers have naturally led the way in this segment, meeting the demands of their original equipment customers, themselves expanding and innovating in the segment to offer greater choice to consumers, sub-premium manufacturers have followed suit, giving wholesalers the opportunity to distribute higher margin products, and create a tiered range of products to address this segment.
Large investments in research and technology over the last few years have enabled Grouptyre’s exclusive brands to develop some excellent alternatives within the competitive high performance market at realistic and affordable prices. The wholesaler notes that tyre retailers are demanding increased diversity in the high performance market to meet the wide range of consumer demands at all price points.
