Ceat plant named a WEF Lighthouse

Company News

Ceat has become the first tyre brand to gain World Economic Forum (WEF) ‘Lighthouse’ certification. Managing Director Anant Goenka accepted the honour at a ceremony in Davos on Monday. The tyre maker’s Halol plant in India is one of just 132 facilities in the WEF Lighthouse Network.

Bridgestone retains EcoVadis Platinum rating

For the second year running, EcoVadis has awarded Bridgestone EMIA a Platinum rating in its annual sustainability assessment. The award recognises Bridgestone’s sustainability achievements, with the Platinum status putting Bridgestone EMIA in the top one per cent of over 100,000 companies from over 200 industries worldwide.

FEDIL award for optimised Goodyear UHP tyre development

Goodyear has optimised its UHP tyre development by combining different techniques and disciplines through a statistical model, a process it used when working on the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. FEDIL has recognised Goodyear’s step forward with a 2022 Innovation Award. The Luxembourg-based multisectoral business federation has honoured the tyre maker in the ‘Process’ category of its awards.

Mercedes-Benz is starting to equip its EQE and S-Class models with door handles containing materials gleaned from end-of-life tyres, and those involved in the project have been acknowledged for their contribution. Pyrolysis-based recycling specialist Pyrum Innovations, together with BASF, Mercedes-Benz and Witte Automotive, received a Materialica Design + Technology Award 2022 at this month’s eMove360 ° trade fair.

Michelin: Clarivate innovation honour “goes to all of our global teams”

Analytics firm Clarivate has published its 100 Top Innovators 2022 list, and several familiar names are present. Continental debuts as a new entrant, whilst Bridgestone and Michelin both return to the list for a fourth time. Michelin shares that it received this recognition from Clarivate during yesterday’s R&D forum at its technology centre near Clermont-Ferrand, France.

Goodyear a DAF ‘Master’ supplier

Truck manufacturer DAF recently recognised Goodyear as a ‘Master’ in its 2021 Supplier Performance Management Program. This is the first time that Goodyear has reached this level, and the tyre maker attributes the achievement to the ”work and dedication of its teams who constantly seek to improve the total customer experience year over year.” It particularly praises its teammates for maintaining Goodyear’s “high standards of operational excellence” despite a disruptive macro environment.

Hankook Tire achieves S&P sustainability gold

Goodyear plant gains another Platinum Caterpillar SQEP certification

Goodyear says it is “honoured to receive” a second Platinum certification in the Caterpillar Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP). The tyre maker’s factory in Wittlich, Germany earned these back-to-back awards with the tyres it supplies for Caterpillar compact wheel loaders.

Linglong Tire honoured for charitable acts

International News

Shanghai played host to China’s 11th Philanthropy Festival on 13 and 14 January, and Linglong Tire shares that it was well represented at this event. In addition to the company winning the 2021 Philanthropy Driving Force Award, its chairman and president, Wang Feng, was named Philanthropy Person of 2021.

Silver agri medal for Continental self-sealing tyre tech

The German Agricultural Society (DLG) has awarded Continental a silver medal in its Agritechnica innovation awards 2022. It bestowed this honour upon the tyre maker for its Agro ContiSeal technology, a patented polymer applied to the inside of an agricultural tyre that can prevent punctures by immediately sealing any foreign object penetration.

FEDIL award for Goodyear’s traction resin

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has won a FEDIL Environment Prize. The Luxembourgish multisectoral business federation awarded Goodyear in the ‘Process’ category for its traction resin, which the tyre maker developed at its Innovation Center in Colmar-Berg and uses in the manufacture of ultra-high-performance tyres.

Agritechnica: 2022 show cancelled

International News

In response to tougher local Covid measures and the ever-present risk of travel restrictions, the organiser of Agritechnica has confirmed the show’s postponement. The event scheduled to take place between 27 February and 5 March will no longer take place, and the German Agricultural Society (DLG) now plans to hold the next Agritechnica between 12 and 18 November 2023.

Prinx Chengshan acknowledged for energy efficiency

International News

When the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation announced its list of most energy efficient companies within the petrochemical industry (for 2020) in October, it recognised tyre maker Prinx Chengshan as a leading ‘Energy Efficiency Benchmark Company’ for the sixth year in a row. Prinx Chengshan attributes these half-dozen consecutive accolades to its focus on sustainability in recent years, including energy and materials conservation as well as efforts to promote a circular economy.
