ATS Euromaster service ‘key’ to Gwynedd Shipping Group
ATS Euromaster’s service is “key” to a UK-based haulier renewing its contract with the company for the 17th consecutive year. The Gwynedd Shipping Group, which offers a range of haulage services including services to Ireland and specialist domestic steel delivery, runs its fleet of 80 trucks and 600 trailers, seven days a week, double-shifting the vehicles. Insa Turbo appoints new commercial director
Spain-based retreader Insa Turbo has named Salvador Pérez Lucena its commercial director. In his new position, Pérez Lucena will be involved with the Insa Turbo brand and other Grupo Soledad companies, including retreader and rubber compound manufacturer MCE Mezclas Caucho and rubber automotive components manufacturer Cauchos Verdú. Insa Turbo says the appointment was made “in order to revitalise the company and achieve new goals of positioning and expansion in the sector, both nationally and internationally.”
Tweel not being developed for cars – at the moment
As reported yesterday, Michelin has officially opened its new Tweel factory in the US. The plant produces the airless tyre and wheel combination for off-road commercial applications, and at the inauguration the chairman and president of Michelin North America addressed recent speculation regarding the extension of Tweel technology to passenger cars.
New UK tyre market report published
Market research publisher Bharat books has released a new report on the UK tyre market. Introducing the new product, the company contexualises the research against the backdrop of “anticipated growth in the UK automotive industry and expansion in the overall automotive fleet”, saying these markets are “expected to boost tyre demand in the United Kingdom”. Without giving any further details, the publisher suggest that there are “growing online sales of replacement tyres” and “rising demand for retreaded tyres, especially in commercial vehicles”.

Sports Direct acquires Dunlop sporting goods rights for Australia, New Zealand
UK-based sports retail group Sports Direct plc has bought the rights for the Dunlop brand name in Australia and New Zealand. This deal does not affect the Dunlop tyre brand, which in the region is owned by Goodyear & Dunlop Tyres, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Goodyear Tire & Rubber.
