Coach registrations rise in November as bus registrations stall

SMMT figures on coach and bus registrations in November show that total bus and coach registrations grew 0.8 per cent, against a 2.6 per cent fall in the year-to-date. Coach registrations rose 6.5 per cent in the month, in contrast to the 13.3 per cent decline in the purpose-built bus market. It was a stronger month for converted buses, with registrations up 14.1 per cent.

“Another month of growth for coaches offset the decline in purpose-built bus registrations, leading to a level overall market,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “This replicates the sector’s performance in the year so far, as continually growing demand for coaches contrasts with a more subdued bus market.”
