Following the re-launch of its commercial vehicle tyre range earlier this year, Yokohama has announced it is attending a leading industry event for fleet operators for the first time. The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Annual Conference takes place at the ICC in Birmingham on Tuesday 15 October and Yokohama will be on stand #46. Yokohama will be the only tyre manufacturer in attendance.

Yokohama Rubber Co is supplying its BluEarth-GT AE51 tyres to the new Toyota Camry as original equipment (OE). The Camry has been launched gradually in Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. The BluEarth-GT AE51, an eco tyre highly recommended by Tyrepress’s consumer tyre research site WhatTyre, will be supplied in size 215/55R17 94V.

The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has joined the “Fry to Fly Project,” which pursues decarbonization of the airline industry by recycling domestic resources. Led by JGC Holdings Corporation, the project involves collecting waste cooking oil generated by companies and households and using it for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to power aeroplanes. As of 31 July 2024, 143 companies, municipalities, and organizations were involved in the project.

With a weighted score of 86 per cent, the PremiumContact 7 was one percentage point ahead of the second-placed Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 SUV (85%). Michelin’s Primacy 4+ rounded off the podium, albeit some way back, with a weighted score of 71 per cent. The test also considered a number of tyres outside the premium stable. Interestingly, What Car? ranked Triangles EffexSport TH202 ahead of the GT Radial FE2 SUV and the Landsail LS588 SUV.

On 9 August, The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. announced its financial performance for the first half of fiscal 2024, publishing results that necessitate an upward revision of full-year earnings projections. The company’s sales revenue for the period surged by 18.5% year-on-year to a record ¥525.3 billion (£2.81 billion). Business profit climbed 113.4% to ¥54.6 billion (£292.4 million), operating profit increased by 99.6% to ¥56.3 billion (£301.7 million) and profit attributable to owners of parent grew by 68.3% to ¥46.6 billion (£249.9 million).
