Double Coin increases treadwear warranty
Double Coin’s US marketing arm, CMA, has enhanced the warranty on the company’s retreads to seven years and three retreads for all Double Coin Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) tyres, the company announced.
Marangoni establishing new HQ in Turkey, anticipates greater market share
Through its subsidiary Marangoni Kauçuk, Marangoni Retreading Systems has established a new warehouse and head office in Istanbul. From this site, Marangoni will both supply the Turkish city’s retreaders and its nationwide network.
Arthur Gregg new Bandvulc MD
Bandvulc managing director Patrick O’Connell, who started in the family tyre retreading business by working on the factory floor in his school holidays, stepped down as MD of the Bandvulc group of companies on 1 May 2017. According to the company, he will now “spend more time on other projects within Continental”, Bandvulc’s owner since the tyre giant purchased the retreader and fleet business last July.

The BASys solution that Bridgestone introduced into its European retreading operations last year is now being implemented around the world. The global rollout of BASys begins in Latin America this month.
Working hand-in-hand: Obo Tyres anticipates synergies with Magna Tyres Group
While spent revellers slept or nursed New Year’s hangovers and the well-meaning scribbled out resolutions they’d struggle to keep for a week, let alone a year, on 1 January Obo Tyres began something more significant. The first day of 2017 was also the Dutch retreader’s first as member of the Magna Tyres Group. The acquisition of Obo was announced shortly before the festive season got under way, and the new arrangement enables Magna, a specialist in the field of new off-highway and truck tyres, to offer its range as a full lifecycle portfolio. The benefit to Obo Tyres is measurable in terms of access to new markets, improved casing supply and the opportunity to develop new and qualitatively superior products.
Bandag Marks 60th Anniversary with “Built for Better” campaign
Bandag is marking its 60th anniversary with the launch of a new global campaign that aims to “reinvigorate the retread category.” The retreading specialist, which has been a business of Bridgestone Americas and part of Bridgestone Corporation since 2007, is introducing its “Built for Better” platform to unite the Bandag brand globally and to position retreads as an “innovative, sustainable business solution for fleet customers of any size.”
Micheldever confirmed as UK supplier for Insa-Turbo
Insa-Turbo has named Micheldever the sole distributor for the UK, building on the long-standing relationship between the two companies. Micheldever has distributed Insa-Turbo tyres – which are retreaded – for more than 10 years and in 2016 saw the brand grow by more than 15 per cent. Now the company is looking forward to future success with the Spanish off-road specialists.
B&J Rocket adds to Airbot range
B&J Rocket’s Airbot buffing tools are now available with a diameter of 76mm in addition to the existing diameters of 50, 100 and 150mm.
Goodyear offers Retreading Guarantee
Goodyear is offering a new guarantee of 100 per cent acceptance of casings, with no visual defects, within Goodyear’s Customer Own Casing (COC) scheme. According to the tyre manufacturer, the new campaign will help fleet operators to reduce their Total Cost of Ownership while providing peace of mind at the same time.

Marangoni’s Direct Retreading and Services business has announced it will raise product prices in Italy and Europe between March and April.
Bandvulc receives Tructyre strategic partner award
After 10 years of collaboration, Tructyre has acknowledged Bandvulc’s position as a “strategic partner” in its business.
In 2014 Tructyre embarked on an aggressive three-year business plan following on from their acquisition of P K Commercial Tyres in 2012. According to Tructyre, when the plan was instigated it was key that their strategic partners were on board. With 10 years of partnership behind them, Tructyre reports that “the relationship has flourished even further in the last three years with proactive initiatives in distribution, product (launch of Tructyre’s Re-Trak range), tyre management and service.”
Continental introduces 19.5” tyres for urban buses
Continental has introduced a new 19.5” fitment for its urban bus tyre, the Conti Urban HA3, part of its third-generation commercial vehicle tyre range. Tyres for this application are placed under higher stress in the inner-city public transport segment than in any other area of application, Conti states.
