Nynas achieves EcoVadis Gold status

Nynas has received the EcoVadis Gold Sustainability rating, the top group in its category for sustainability performance. Examples of Nynas’s bio-based grades include: the Nytro Bio 300 X and Nytex Bio 6200, as well as “several other grades which contribute to lower energy consumption, improved efficiency and recyclability…”.

EcoVadis awards Pyrum silver status

Company News

An inaugural assessment by EcoVadis has resulted in a Silver Medal for Pyrum Innovations AG. The sustainability ratings provider awarded Pyrum, which has patented a pyrolysis technology for the sustainable recycling of end-of-life tyres, an overall score of 59 points. This places Pyrum amongst the worldwide top 25 per cent of all companies in its industry assessed by EcoVadis.

Birla Carbon rated Platinum by EcoVadis for sustainable business practices

Birla Carbon has been awarded a Platinum level rating by EcoVadis for sustainability. This recognition confirms Birla Carbon’s position as an industry leader in advanced sustainability practices and reporting and places it in the top 1 per cent of companies rated by EcoVadis. The rating was provided after reviewing Birla Carbon’s sustainability practices in its recently published ninth sustainability report, Driving Circularity.

Continental gains 4th consecutive top CDP rating

Vipal Rubber recognised for sustainable practices by EcoVadis

Vipal Rubber’s manufacturing units in southern Brazil have received recognition for sustainable practices. EcoVadis assessed the retreading materials supplier’s Nova Prata facilities, awarding it an additional two points versus its Silver-certificated inspection n 2019. Vipal said the sustainability of its operations, extending beyond the environment to focus on people too.

Hankook Tire in top 1% of EcoVadis CSR assessment

Business sustainability ratings provider EcoVadis has awarded Hankook Tire & Technology a platinum medal in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 2021 assessment. Platinum is, the tyre maker notes, a status bestowed upon companies whose performance is within the top one per cent of their industry sector. The current platinum medal is Hankook’s third back-to-back top-tier EcoVadis award; it earned the then highest gold award in 2019, followed by a platinum award upon the introduction of this recognition last year.

Upstream suppliers to the tyre manufacturing industry Nynas, Cabot and Evonik have received some of the top ratings in the 2021 EcoVadis auditing process. Specifically, these three firms all ranked in the top 1 per cent of their peers, earning platinum status. Meanwhile, carbon black supplier Birla Carbon received the EcoVadis’ gold accreditation.

Kordsa awarded Gold sustainability by Ecovadis

Kordsa has been awarded the Gold rating for sustainability by Ecovadis. The rating reflects the tyre and construction reinforcement material supplier’s commitment to achieving sustainability. It also calls Kordsa outstanding in the environment, sustainable procurement, workforce and human resources categories. The Gold award places Kordsa within the top companies among more than 40,000 surveyed for their sustainability credentials between 2015-2019.

Tyre manufacturer Hankook has received a platinum medal for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) engagement. The medal was awarded by the French rating agency Ecovadis in particular recognition of Hankook’s sustainability initiatives. Bridgestone: 98% of tier 1 suppliers acknowledge procurement policy

The aim at Bridgestone Group is to use “100 per cent sustainable materials” by 2050 and beyond, and last year the tyre and rubber company introduced a new procurement policy to steer it towards this end. Under a partnership it began with CSR evaluation specialist EcoVadis in 2018, Bridgestone is now assessing its suppliers’ current sustainability practices and looking at what support may be needed to improve performance.
