The Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S21 has been approved by BMW Motorrad as original equipment on the new S1000RR. This comes as no surprise, given that Bridgestone’s engineers worked with their counterparts at BMW Motorrad to develop a bespoke version of the S21 for BMW’s latest bike.
The Bridgestone Battlax Racing Street RS11 has been selected as an original equipment tyre for the 2019 models of the Kawasaki Ninja H2 and Ninja H2 Carbon. The super sport motorcycles will wear the Bridgestone rubber in size 120/70ZR17 M/C (58W) on the front and 200/55ZR17 M/C (78W) on the rear.
A fifth-place finish at the Suzuka 8 Hours has given F.C.C. TSR Honda France overall victory in the 2017-2018 FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC). Bridgestone, as the team’s exclusive supplier, says it is “particularly proud to have contributed to this incredible accomplishment.”
A new generation of Bridgestone grooved racing tyre for supersport and hypersport bikes will come to market at the start of next year. The Battlax Racing R11, successor to the R10 T-2, will be introduced between January and March in two front and six rear sizes. All R11 sizes will be available in medium compound, and a soft option will also be available in certain sizes.
Bridgestone’s partnership with electric motorcycle manufacturer Saroléa continues with its third visit to the TT Zero at the Isle of Man on 8 June. Riding on two promising performances (fourth in 2014 and fifth in 2015), the all-electric Belgian motorcycle manufacturer is reaching out for the podium this year with two world class riders. Bradford’s Dean Harrison and Northern Ireland’s Lee Johnston will pilot an SP7 each, 2 bikes in 2 different colours.
A multiple Irish superbike champion will run on Bridgestone rubber for the first time, following the recommendation of a friend and selfless fundraiser, who tragically passed away last year. Brian McCormack, an 11-time bike racing champion, is switching to Bridgestone tyres for the first time, after Aidan Lynam – who died in an accident during a charity bike ride for Down Syndrome Ireland in May – had pushed him to make the decision for many months. The 32 year-old Waterford star will change from a formula that has served him well for years, opting for the manufacturer’s Battlax V02 Slicks.
At EICMA 2015, Bridgestone will unveil its new Battlax Hypersport S21 radial – a tyre that blends proven wet weather technology and innovative new features, giving impressive performance in all conditions and on all surfaces.
Bridgestone will be much in evidence at the EICMA 73rd International Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy, from 19 to 22 November, with a 178m² stand. The company will display new products, innovations and the wide range of Battlax tyres for all types of riders and motorcycles and there will be world premières for two new tyres; the Battlax Hypersport S21, fitted on the stunning new 1-litre Yamaha R1, and the Battlax Racing W01, Bridgestone’s new flagship hypersport wet racing tyre.
At motorcycle fairs during the spring, Bridgestone showed off the Battlax Sport Touring T30 Evo and Battlax Adventure A40, the new tyres it first presented at last autumn’s Intermot show. The first of these is – as the name suggests – a further evolution of the existing T30 sport touring tyre that will (for the time being) largely remain in the Bridgestone portfolio. The second of the pair succeeds the Battle Wing in the enduro segment. According to Bridgestone, both tyres display particular improvements in wet performance.
Bridgestone has extended its Battlax range of race, sports, touring, and adventure motorcycle tyres with the launch of the Battlax Racing Street RS10, Battlax Sport Touring T30 EVO and the Battlax Adventure A40. These three product lines will be available globally in February 2015.
The Battlax family of motorcycle tyres has been extended to the adventure touring segment. First seen at the Intermot fair in Germany at the start of the month, the new Battlax Adventure A40 expands the all-weather potential of trail radials for the many riders who use their adventure machines primarily for on-road touring. Bridgestone says the starting point for the new product’s development was its Battle Wing tyre, and the goal its engineers held was to significantly improve the Battle Wing’s dry and wet handling without sacrificing its high-level stability and durability.
The recent launch of Bridgestone’s Battlax Hypersport S20 EVO is being supported by a new promotional film starring Valentino Rossi. The multiple MotoGP world champion served as motorcycle tyre adviser during the S20 EVO’s development, and in the film he puts the hypersport tyre through its paces on a Yamaha YZF-R1. The short film can be viewed here.
Bridgestone has formed a technical partnership with Belgian motorcycle brand Saroléa, designer of the Saroléa SP7 electric superbike that was shown for the first time during the Speed Trophy at Belgium’s Mettet circuit on 26 April. The deal will see Bridgestone provide technical support and tyre expertise for Saroléa’s track testing and racing plans, which for 2014 include the TT Zero Challenge at the Isle of Man TT series and the FIM eRoadRacing world cup series.
