The Truck Hub Group, formerly MWheels, in liquidation, German subsidiary ‘unaffected’

Company News, UK News
Lots in the stock liquidation auction include aluminium wheels for commercial vehicles

The European importer of Indian manufactured xlite and xbrite aluminium forged commercial vehicle wheels, The Truck Hub Group has been placed into creditors’ voluntary liquidation following unsuccessful attempts to sell the business at the end of 2022. The company traded as The Wheel Hub, based in Sharston in south Manchester, having changed its name from MWheels in early 2021. This was one of a number of transformational changes for the company in recent years, with the establishment of a European operation, Wheel Hub GmbH in the Cologne region of Germany, which is “unaffected” by the liquidation proceedings. Further details of the company’s stock liquidation sale can be found here.

MWheels to work with DfT to improve CV wheel safety

UK News

Negotiations to rectify the Department for Transport’s apparent failure to incorporate European Union Directives 2014/45/EU and 2014/47/EU into the wheel-related section of the new Heavy Goods Vehicle Inspection Manual has yielded a positive result for MWheels. The commercial vehicle wheel specialist shares that following a meeting with the DfT, DVSA and Parliamentary representative Mike Kane MP on 17 May, the DfT “has agreed to work with MWheels to investigate ways in which the Heavy Goods Vehicle Inspection Manual’s section on wheels can be enhanced to improve vehicle safety.”

MWheels to discuss unchanged CV wheel inspection law with DfT, DVSA

Company News, Legislation, UK News

MWheels will meet with the Department for Transport (DfT) and DVSA to understand why the EU Roadworthiness Directive, and its section on CV wheels, has not been incorporated in UK law. The DfT’s draft Heavy Goods Vehicle Inspection Manual, due to come into force from 20 May 2018, shows “no major changes” to section 06, Road Wheels and Hubs. This is despite the British firm’s eight-year campaign, which saw major input in both Periodic (2014/45/EU) and Roadside (2014/47/EU) documents. Both were expected to be fully adopted by all 27 Member States as part of the EU’s drive to create standardised inspection procedures.

MWSD senior management restructuring the key to wheel distributor’s next phase

Company News, Premium, Product News

The restructuring of Xlite forged aluminium wheel distributor Motor Wheel Service Distribution’s management team is characterised by company founder John Ellis as “the key to this year”. Add the establishment of the company’s German operations, MWheels GmbH – an important anchor in Europe’s leading market given both MWSD’s pan-European strategy and the current period of flux in Anglo-European relations – the introduction of a new generation of forged aluminium products, and the impending implementation of the EU Roadworthiness Act in May 2017 and it all adds up to an organisation entering the next stage of its development.
