From a standing start less than a decade ago, GB Tyres is now aiming to be a key player in the UK wholesale business. When the company’s full-year financial results come in at the end of August, turnover will have reached £53 million. So, in other words, the business is trucking along nicely and making good progress towards its goals. Tyres & Accessories met up with Commercial Director Graham Hutchison and founder Sukhi Singh to visit the company’s Tipton headquarters and relatively new Oldbury wholesale warehouse.
Midlands-based wholesaler GB Tyres has grown rapidly despite the challenges of lockdown and logistics during the last couple of years. Indeed, GB Tyre’s annual turnover has skyrocketed from £3 million in 2016 to full-year 2022 predictions of £50 million. Considering the company was only established in 2013, it is fair to say the business has grown to become one of the fastest growing importers and exporters of commercial vehicle tyres in Europe. Tyres & Accessories met up with commercial director Graham Hutchinson to find out more.
The 2021 Tyre Industry Conference is underway in Birmingham today after the pandemic caused a temporary break from the in-person event in 2020. Proceedings began with NTDA chief executive, Stefan Hay introducing the event and speakers via a wide-ranging introductory speech covering: key worker lobbying, the importance of training and technicians and more.
After hiatus last year, the NTDA’s Tyre Industry Awards will be back in 2021, according to the association’s chief executive Stefan Hay.
The Awards are scheduled to be presented to the winners at a ceremony sponsored by Sailun at the NTDA Annual Dinner, which is due to take place on the evening of Thursday 7 October 2021 at the ICC Birmingham, following the daytime Tyre Industry Conference sponsored by GB Tyres Ltd in association with Linglong Tire.
GB Tyres has introduced a new six-year warranty on JK Tyre’s commercial vehicle tyres. The wholesaler became the exclusive UK & Ireland distributor of the Indian brand’s tyre range in January 2020. GB Tyres told Tyres & Accessories that the first year of the partnership has been “very successful” and the customer feedback it has generated has allowed it to fully assess the quality and performance of the brand under various working conditions.

Characterised as “a robust and hard working on-off product”, the Formula TBR range is said to provide “performance, long-life and affordability” and is available in key sizes across the UK dominated regional segment.
Qindao Doublestar Overseas Trading Co. Ltd. has appointed GB Tyres UK Ltd, based in Tipton, West Midlands, as the exclusive United Kingdom and Ireland distributor of the Doublestar branded range of radial truck tyres.
