Fast-growing tyre wholesaler, GB Tyres, has begun construction of its new Oldbury tyre “storage and distribution facility”. As we reported back in September 2022, despite existing storage space of roughly 250,000 square feet across two large sites in the midlands the business requires much more space.
Following our report naming GB Tyres as the new distributor of Kenda tyres, GB Tyres have confirmed the appointment and added further details. GB Tyres has indeed become UK distributor of Kenda passenger car, SUV, 4×4 and van tyres and the company is said to be “looking forward to an ongoing partnership with the brand”. Specifically, GB Tyres has already accepted delivery of its first Kenda containers and a selection of the range is already available. According to officials, the range of Kenda stock available for immediate delivery will continue to grow over the coming weeks and months.
GB Tyres has been appointed as exclusive distributor of the Kenda Tyres brand in the UK. The news follows a meeting between Sukhi Singh, managing director of GB Tyres and Henno Plaggenborg, director, automotive division Europe at Kenda Tyres today.
2022 Tyre Industry Awards Truck and Agricultural Tyre Supplier of the Year, GB Tyres has announced the latest phase of its commercial vehicle tyre portfolio development with the introduction of its own exclusive brand, Aerotyre. The company states: “Aerotyre is more than another brand in our portfolio. It is made specifically for us and is our own tyre brand, Aerotyre products are only available from GB Tyres. We are delighted to provide a product which offers such excellent quality at a highly competitive price.”
When it came to selecting a charity to work with in 2023 and beyond, GB Tyres had a few essential requirements in mind. The West Midlands-based supplier, who since its establishment in 2013 has become one of the fastest growing importers and exporters of vehicle tyres in Europe, sought a charity with roots in the local area whose work genuinely supports people in need of support, an organisation that is pro-active and enthusiastic about forming local partnerships.
Growing tyre wholesaler GB Tyres has named Dan Woodward as the company’s new marketing manager. The appointment marks Woodward’s return to the tyre industry after time exploring opportunities in the automotive and technology fields. Woodward has more than 15 years tyre industry experience, including marketing and brand management positions at Trelleborg, Kumho and Bridgestone.
Already well established as a leading Truck and Commercial wholesale tyre supplier, recent diversification from GB Tyres has seen it increase its presence in the car wholesale market. It is now looking forward to expanding its off-road agricultural, plant, construction and earthmover offerings, the wholesaler tells Tyres & Accessories. While the expansion of its sales into passenger car tyres has required approaching new customers and a slightly different customer base, many agricultural customers are already using GB Tyres for their truck tyre supply. GB Tyres says the extension is therefore a case of “enhancing its offer to the same customers.” It adds that the advantage of offering tyres in an expanding range of segments to an existing large customer base means it can offer a mix of car, truck and any other tyres all on the same delivery, which helps the company distinguish itself from some competitors.
The flagship company of JK Organisation and one of the world’s 25 largest tyre manufacturers, JK Tyre has been spearheading technological developments and innovations since its inception. The company claims market leadership in India’s truck and bus radial segment and currently has capacities to produce 3.7 million TBR tyres per annum.

From a standing start less than a decade ago, GB Tyres is now aiming to be a key player in the UK wholesale business. So, in other words, the business is trucking along nicely and making good progress towards its goals. The 2021 Tyre Industry Conference is underway in Birmingham today after the pandemic caused a temporary break from the in-person event in 2020. Proceedings began with NTDA chief executive, Stefan Hay introducing the event and speakers via a wide-ranging introductory speech covering: key worker lobbying, the importance of training and technicians and more.
After hiatus last year, the NTDA’s Tyre Industry Awards will be back in 2021, according to the association’s chief executive Stefan Hay.
The Awards are scheduled to be presented to the winners at a ceremony sponsored by Sailun at the NTDA Annual Dinner, which is due to take place on the evening of Thursday 7 October 2021 at the ICC Birmingham, following the daytime Tyre Industry Conference sponsored by GB Tyres Ltd in association with Linglong Tire.
