Ex-Triangle and Goodyear Tire executive Cohade joins Johnson Controls

Johnson Controls International plc has appointed Pierre E. Cohade as a director. Cohade served as chief executive officer of Triangle Tyre from 2015 to May 2016. Before this, Cohade was president of Asia Pacific Tire, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Pierre Cohade no longer CEO of Triangle Tire

In the summer of 2015 we reported Triangle Tire’s appointment of Pierre Cohade as the company’s chief executive officer. At the time we wrote that the former Goodyear man (Cohade served as president of Goodyear Tire & Rubber’s Asia Pacific business between October 2004 and December 2011) had joined China’s second largest tyre maker in April that year and was tasked with extending Triangle Tire’s globalisation plan.

Triangle Tyre celebrates 40th anniversary

Chinese tyre manufacturer Triangle Tyre celebrated its 40th anniversary on 8 April. According to the company, over the past 40 years, Triangle Tyre has enjoyed “a big improvement in the tyre production” both in terms of quality and quantity.

Cicero named CEO of Triangle Tire USA

Manny Cicero, who previously held the post of president of Alliance Tire Americas, has been named chief executive officer of Triangle Tire USA. His appointment follows last November’s official opening of the Chinese tyre maker’s local operation, Triangle Tire United States of America LLC.

Triangle Tire gains IPO approval

Approval has been given for the long-anticipated Triangle Tire Co Ltd. initial public offering. The Shanghai Stock Exchange disclosed on 6 January that the go-ahead was granted at the meeting of the exchange’s Issuance Examination Committee held earlier that day.

Local production and OE aspirations – Triangle Tyre’s globalisation strategy

Even though some 55 per cent of the more than RMB 9 billion (£943 million) it earned last year came from sales outside of China, Triangle Tyre Co. Ltd. doesn’t yet consider itself a global company. But this is something China’s largest privately-owned tyre business intends to change. While it continues to invest in domestic R&D and manufacturing facilities, Triangle says it is also ready to expand its footprint beyond China. The company has appointed a new chief executive officer to facilitate this step, and during one of his first appearances in this new role he shared that we don’t have long to wait until we see the emergence of a more global Triangle Tyre.

Two products in what Triangle Tyre calls its ‘new generation’ of passenger car tyres have been officially launched in the European market, and Triangle says the new lines – the Protract and Sportex – represent the start of its strategy of filling existing gaps in the Triangle portfolio and ensuring its range is completely up to date.

Cohade returns to the tyre industry as Triangle’s CEO

Career Tracks

The former head of Goodyear’s Asia Pacific business has joined Triangle Tyre Co. Ltd as its new chief executive officer. He began in this role in April 2015 and will work towards further globalising the tyre maker’s activities – indeed, Triangle Tyre states that the French national’s appointment to the role shows the company’s “confidence and determination” to globalise. Ding Yuhua will continue to serve as Triangle Tyre’s chairman of the board.
