Rodcraft has introduced a new range of air-hydraulic-jacks for the heavy vehicle service market, adding to its wide portfolio of pneumatic tools and workshop equipment. Featuring a hydraulic system designed for high durability and ease of use, the new ATJ30-2, ATJ50-3 and ATJ80-2 jacks are suited to truck and bus maintenance applications.
Following the worst winter storms to hit Britain for two decades, TyreSafe is reminding drivers about the need for more regular tyre checks. With its potential to cause aquaplaning, standing water remains a major hazard in many parts of the UK, while damaged road surfaces also presents a different tyre related challenge. However, by taking just a few minutes to inspect your tyres regularly, TyreSafe advises that the impact of these issues can be reduced.

Both products are scheduled for market release before the end of 2013.
Terex Corporation has agreed to sell its truck business to Volvo Construction Equipment for approximately $160 million. The truck business manufactures and sells off-highway rigid and articulated haul trucks. The deal includes the firm’s Motherwell, Scotland manufacturing facility. The sale, which is subject to government regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, is targeted to close in the first half of 2014.
Metzeler has launched its 2014 Calendar, celebrating its ongoing commitment to road racing. The 21st edition of the calendar has 19 coloured and black and white images and is accompanied by a mini documentary “The road to legend: a story about road racing”.
Trelleborg has announced plans to launch what it calls ProgressiveTraction technology with a feature at the forthcoming Agritechnica 2013 exhibition which is due to take place from 10 to 16 November in Hannover, Germany. The technology is designed to improve grip and weight distribution, while also improving wear and fuel consumption performance.
Metzeler has rounded out its road racing season with its first year as title sponsor of the Ulster Grand Prix, at which Tyco Suzuki’s Guy Martin took three victories on the company’s rubber. Martin’s Supersport and feature Superbike race wins were joined by victories for Ivan Lintin in the Lightweight class, while Gary Johnson and Dean Harrison also enjoyed strong performances in the Superstock race. The weather led to the cancellation of the Dundrod 150 races on Thursday, but Metzeler enjoyed a victorious day on Saturday as the brand completed the first of three years as title sponsor to the World’s fastest road racing event, the Ulster Grand Prix.

According to sources at Bridgestone Commercial Solutions, 78 per cent of all off-highway tyres and wheels are in the 25 to 29-inch size range. An important and difficult process in the servicing of these large-sized wheels is the removal and installation of the O-ring.

Michelin introduced the latest version of its road crane tyre range, the X-Crane+, at Intermat in spring 2012, with the product available since last summer. The tyre provides users with three important advantages: increased longevity, operator comfort and safety, and easy mounting to maximise uptime. The previous generation crane tyre, named sans +, was described as the market standard setter, but the new tyre, available in the segment’s best-selling 445/95R25 size, extends these properties, according to the French giant.
US-based automotive lifting equipment manufacturer Forward Lift has expanded its heavy-duty product offering, and for the first time is offering battery-operated mobile column lifts. The new FCH family of mobile column lifts offers 18,000 pounds (8,150kg) of capacity per column in a package it describes as affordable and perfect for independent repair facilities.
