Canada’s Group Touchette completes NTD acquisition

On 7 September, American Tire Distributors (ATD) announced the completion of its Canadian subsidiary’s sale to Groupe Touchette, Canada’s largest locally-owned tyre distributor. By divesting the National Tire Distributors (NTD) business, the wholesaler says it is now “better positioned to serve its customers across the US” and to “invest in the enhanced innovation that is driving its transformation efforts.”

Cooper Tire: More than 430,000 tyres recalled in USA

The US government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced another recall of tyres produced by Cooper Tire & Rubber. This recall potentially relates to more than 430,000 4×4 and SUV tyres in the sizes 275/65R18 and 275/55R20.

Hercules tyres recalled in Canada, for second time

Transport Canada has recalled certain Hercules All Trac A/T light truck and SUV tyres. The recall covers six sizes of the tyres, manufactured between 2007 and 2011. The recall is a repeat of a 2015 notice affecting 10,000 tyres. However, because the rate of recovery for the recall is low, Transport Canada has opted to repeat the communication.

Seven new sizes in Hercules Roadtour portfolio

With low rolling resistance, a quiet ride and dependable all-season performance, Hercules Tires’ Roadtour brand tyres have become a popular choice for passenger and CUV fitments. Now available everywhere are seven new sizes in the Hercules Roadtour family, which is comprised of the Roadtour655 touring tyre and the RoadtourXUV SUV/Crossover tyre.

The RoadtourXUV, engineered specifically for CUVs, features options ranging from 16 to 19 inches, with a limited mileage warranty up 60 thousand miles. New RoadtourXUV sizes accommodate popular vehicles such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Subaru Tribeca and Lexus RX350. Size additions include: 235/55R19 XL 105H; 265/60R18 110T; 235/60R18 XL 107H and 255/55R18 XL 109H.

Hercules purchase “fits very well” into ATD growth plan

This month, American Tire Distributors (ATD) acquired Hercules Tire & Rubber for approximately US$310 million. Further details of the deal beyond the news reported this week have been published by US trade publication Tire Review, who yesterday spoke about the purchase with Ron Sinclair, senior vice-president of marketing at Hercules Tire & Rubber.

ATD buys Hercules Tire

Major US-based replacement tyre wholesaler American Tire Distributors (ATD) has acquired Hercules Tire & Rubber for approximately US$310 million. Details of the purchase – described as a merger – were submitted to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission on 24 January. Subject to closing conditions, the transaction is expected to be consummated by the end of January 2014.

LeBlanc appointed Hercules Canada sales VP

Hercules Tire Company of Canada has named Terry LeBlanc to the newly-created role of vice-president of Sales. LeBlanc begins in this position on 2 July and reports directly to Hercules Canada President, Rob Keller. He will take on responsibility for Hercules’ Canadian national sales team, P & L, customer relations, and have full responsibility for the strategic direction and management of the company’s sales strategy.
