Continental recalls 12,000 car tyres in the US

Date: 9th November 2020 Author: Chris Anthony Comments: 0

Continental is recalling approximately 12,000 Continental and General brand passenger car, 4×4 and light truck tyres. The recall is voluntary and there haven’t been any reports of accidents.

According to Continental, the tyres in question “may experience sudden air loss or belt edge separation which could lead to partial or full tread loss”. While Continental has not received any reports of accidents or injuries resulting from this, the company estimates that approximately 39 of these tyres are defective.

Continental notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the details of the recall on 26 October 2020. The company reports that it is in communication with the vehicle manufacturers to support notification of customers who purchased vehicles equipped with these tyres. Owners will be notified of the details of the recall programme.
