NFDA Summer 2017 survey results
“The overall relationship between franchised car dealers and manufacturers recorded an average score of 5.6* in the Summer 2017 Dealer Attitude Survey, which is -0.5 points down from the last survey and -0.6 lower than the same time last year”, said Sue Robinson, Director of the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA), which represents franchised car and commercial vehicle dealers in the UK, commenting on the NFDA Summer 2017 Dealer Attitude Survey, published today (4 September 2017).

More car manufacturers introduce scrappage schemes
Hyundai, Volkswagen UK and Toyota have all now announced scrappage schemes with discounts off various models, following on from Ford’s recent announcement and that of Vauxhall earlier in the year.
Hyundai’s scheme offers between £1,500 and £5,000 on trade-ins across its model range and will run from now until the end of the year. It will apply to all petrol and diesel cars with Euro 1-4 engines registered before 31 December 2009.
“Moderate growth” in August van market

Bridgestone’s Franco Annunziato elected president of ETRMA
The board of directors of the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA), today elected Bridgestone EMEA’s vice president and senior advisor Franco Annunziato as president of the association. At the same meeting, Thierry du Granrut, from the Syndicat National du Caoutchouc et des Polymères, was confirmed as vice president for a second term. Both terms are effective as of 1 January 2018 for a three-year mandate. This is the first time that Bridgestone has held the presidency of the European association.

Hankook retains inclusion in DJSI World second year
Hankook Tire has been included in the globally renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the second year in a row.
The DJSI, launched in 1999 as a joint product of S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM, is the first global index to track financial, environmental, and social influence of global top 2,500 companies in terms of market capitalisation. Zenises denies Doublestar acquisition rumours
Zenises Group CEO, Harjeev Kandhari has denied rumours emanating from the Spanish market that Chinese tyremaker Doublestar has bid as much as 250 million euros for the company. Doublestar and Zenises entered into a European joint venture in October 2016.
