Moog expands NASCAR partnership into European series

Federal-Mogul Motorparts has announced an agreement between its Moog brand and NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. The company will provide all competition cars with steering and suspension components. the new agreement complements its long-standing NASCAR partnership, which has stood since 1966.

Delphi extends steering range with 175 new part numbers

Delphi Product & Service Solutions has launched 175 new steering part numbers to meet growing demand. The latest additions are on top of 400 steering part numbers launched during 2016. Together, Delphi’s total steering range covers over 24,500 applications and more than 90 per cent of the European vehicle parc. Further range development is planned throughout 2017, with the introduction of more than 450 part numbers.

The Parts Alliance promotes steering, suspension programme

The Parts Alliance will promote its steering and suspension range with a prize draw for three customers to win a Spitfire flight. The initiative will run through May only, and is supported by members Allparts, CES, GMF, SC Motor Factors, The Parts Alliance South West, SAS, Waterloo, Dingbro, BBC Superfactors and BMS Superfactors. The suppliers and brands include Delphi, Monroe, Lesjofors and Polybush.

In the UK, 12% of cars are ‘on the pull’

According to research carried out for Kwik-Fit, as many as one in eight motorists claim the steering on their car pulls to one side or the other. If the ICM Research survey of 2,024 adults is representative of the wider British motoring public, this means that almost one million drivers are experiencing significant steering pull.

Zeetex launches updated European portfolio

Zeetex has expanded its European market portfolio with the addition of six lines. The new products – the SU1000, HP1000, AT1000 and HT1000 ranges for SUV/4×4 vehicles and the CT1000 for light commercial vehicles – are said to provide offering enhanced dry grip and steering response, good traction, exceptional ride comfort and good handling, exceptional mileage and reduced aquaplaning. Zeetex brand distributor Zafco Trading says the new offerings “are geared to change the European tyre scene.” The tyres were launched at a dealer meeting in Austria this month.

Conti merges brakes & chassis divisions into vehicle dynamics unit

Effective from the 1 September Continental AG has merged its Suspension Systems and Chassis Electronics segments into the Electronic Brake Systems business unit from the Chassis Components unit, which has been dissolved as far as an organizational structure is concerned. In line with the move the Electronic Brake Systems unit has been renamed Vehicle Dynamics.

Two Michelin lines OE for new Peugeot

Peugeot’s second-generation 308, which makes its public debut at this week’s IAA motor show in Frankfurt, will be available with two different Michelin tyres as original equipment; models delivered with 15 and 16-inch rims will be fitted with the Energy Saver + while the Pilot Sport 3 will be mounted on 17 and 18-inch rim versions.

Bridgestone Adrenalin RE002 designed for fun

Bridgestone aims to bring high performance to the smaller, sporty version of evergreen mass market brands with the Potenza Adrenalin RE002. The manufacturer describes this as being “designed with the sport conscious, thrill seeking driver in mind, possessing the ability to transform any car into a spirited, superior vehicle.” It has a line-up of sizes that includes 15 to 16 inch fitments for models such as the Fiesta RS and sports model Astra. It is, in Bridgestone’s opinion, “at its best on Britain’s maze of B roads and lanes.”

Conti reintroduces TKV11 & TKV12 moto patterns

The classic motorcycle market is growing and interest in bikes from the 1980s is strong, and therefore Continental considers now an opportune time to reintroduce two former patterns, the TKV11 front and TKV12 rear sports tyres. The pair are suited for mounting on classic 1970s and 1980s bikes and fit machines as diverse as Yamaha XJ600’s and FJ1100, Kawasaki’s GPZ600R and GPZ1000RX, Suzuki’s GSX1100E and 1100 Katana, BMW’s K75 and K100, Honda’s XBR500 and Ducati’s Pantah range.

176 redundancies at taxi firm

Following the London taxi manufacturer Manganese Bronze being put into Administration, the Administrators have made 176 staff redundant. Matthew Hammond, joint administrator and PwC partner, said:

"Regretfully, without financial support to overcome the Group's operational issues we have had to make staff redundancies. While the steering box recall remains, there is a voluntary suspension on vehicle sales, and we are now concentrating all resources on testing the solution to the steering fault. We have retained sufficient numbers of staff across the dealership, head office and production network to address the operational, technical and financial circumstances that the business faces."

Continental introduces new HSL 2+ size

Continental is introducing a 385/65R22.5 version of its Generation 2+ steer axle tyre, making the HSL 2+ front axle tyre now available in 11 different sizes. The range includes four XL versions of the long distance tyre for front axle loads of up to eight tonnes. Conti says this is in recognition of the increasing load on the front axle for vehicles with heavier drive trains to meet the Euro 6 emissions standard.
