Pirelli has named Birmingham Motor Tyres Ltd (BMTR) as its Performance Centre of the Year for the third time. From the 138 depots currently in the Pirelli Performance Centre network, only one can be named PPC of the Year. To determine the winners, the top-performing centres in the technical audit are subjected to a video mystery shop exercise, scored by an independent assessor.
Merityre is celebrating a hat trick of industry award wins this year, which honoured the tyre retailer for its service and retail excellence. The company, which has over 20 branches across the south of England, Merityre picked up two gongs at the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) Tyre Industry Awards including the Medium Tyre Retailer of the Year and overall Tyre Retailer of the Year awards.
With some drivers returning to the roads as the lockdown eases, Pirelli technicians have offered five tyre maintenance tips to help ensure safety and performance. Drivers are also being referred to the company’s Pirelli Performance Centre network for further enquiries. There are now 128 depots in the UK Pirelli Performance Centre network. Retailers within the network maintain standards through a 130-point technical audit, which each centre completes twice a year with increasingly demanding criteria.
In Autumn 2016 Pirelli open the doors of a model Pirelli Performance Centre on the business park virtually next door the company’s UK headquarters in Burton-on-Trent. Pirelli named BMTR Pirelli Performance Centre (PPC) of the year for the second year running after the firm achieved the best score on the final audit of 2013. The annual award was inaugurated in 2007 to commemorate the efforts of the company’s Performance Centres across the country and this year six depots were in the running for the title.
