Fiat Chrysler suspends vehicle production in Europe

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. is temporarily suspending production across the majority of its European manufacturing plants. The temporary suspension, which runs to 27 March 2020, continues the implementation of a comprehensive set of actions comes in response to “the COVID-19 emergency and enables the Group to effectively respond to the interruption in market demand”.

Yokohama OE tyre for 2020 Chrysler Voyager

Yokohama Rubber has announced another original equipment supply agreement, this time for North America. Its Yokohama Avid S34RV has been chosen as an original equipment tyre for 2020 Chrysler Voyager models sold in the US and Mexican markets. The Voyager will wear the tyre in size 235/65R17 104T.

In the USA, Yokohama Avid S34RV tyres have been selected as OE on the 2020 Chrysler Voyager. The fitment covers the North American market, including Canada and Mexico, in size 235/65R17 104T. The Voyager is now available for purchase.

Goodyear wins “Chassis Supplier of the Year” from Fiat Chrysler

On 7 December 2017, at the annual supplier conference at the Auditorium G. Agnelli Lingotto in Turin (Italy), Goodyear was awarded “Chassis Supplier of the Year” by the famous Italian-American car manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles EMEA. It is the first time a tyremaker has received the award.

Apollo appoints ex-Goodyear OE specialist as senior vice president for North America

Apollo Tyres has appointed Steven Smidlein as the senior vice president for North America. This new role will be based in the firm’s New Jersey office and will see Smidlein reporting to Neeraj Kanwar, vice chairman and managing director, Apollo Tyres Ltd. An OE specialist, with previous experience at Goodyear, Steven Smidlein has spent most of his career working in various executive roles for car makers such as Chrysler, Honda and Accura in the US. According to the Apollo, Smidlein’s latest role sees him take responsibility for ”building the brand and sales in North America for both, Apollo and Vredestein”.

Yokohama winning more 4×4 OE tyre business

Lately Yokohama has been increasing its presence in the 4×4/SUV OE tyre segment, with more tyres selected by manufacturers for initial fitment.

According to the company, there are 24 new additions to the Advan Sport V105 size line-up, such as 235/50R19, 275/45R21 and 275/40R22. Indeed, this large SUV-orientated tyre has been chosen as original equipment by Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

TPMS learn issue leads to Chrysler recall in the US

Crysler Group LLC is recalling 21,042 2014-model year Ram ProMaster vehicles in the US due to a Tyre Press Monitoring System (TPMS) fault. The problem is that in the affected vehicles, the TPMS may fail to learn the locations of the individual sensors while the vehicle is being driven. As a result, the low tyre pressure warning light will light-up irrespective of the tyre pressure.

Korean-based tyre manufacturer Nexen has announced that it has won a contract to supply original equipment tyres (OE) for all new Chrysler 200 cars. According to the company, the new 200 model has been produced at Chrysler’s Starling Heights assembly plant in Michigan, USA since 2011.
