Automobili Pininfarina Battista scoops GQ Electric Hypercar of the Year Award
GQ has awarded the title of ‘Electric Hypercar of the Year’ to the new Automobili Pininfarina Battista at a star-studded Car of the Year (GQ CotY) ceremony in central London. The award coincides with the start of the 90th anniversary celebrations of Pininfarina. No more than 150 Battista hypercars will be created, each by hand in Cambiano, Italy, from the end of 2020. Battista is the realisation of company founder Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina’s enduring dream to see a car produced wearing solely the Pininfarina name.

Falken doubles up on Porsches for 2020 Nürburgring Endurance Series, N24
Falken will run a pair of the latest specification GT3 Porsche 911 GT3 R cars in both the Nürburgring Endurance Series (formerly known as the VLN) and the Nürburgring 24h race in 2020. The Falken Motorsports race team, run by Schnabl Engineering for the tenth consecutive year, has ordered a new 991.2 chassis to run alongside its 2019 Porsche. Both cars will be identical in specification.

NI MOT Crisis: 3 more lifts operational
Three more vehicle lifts became operational at Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) test centres in Northern Ireland on 31 January as work continued to restore normal operations. Together with the two lifts that went into operation on 29 January as well as roughly 15 per cent that were not affected by the severe cracking reported across 85 per cent of the DVA network, this means that the Northern Irish MOT process is now running at between 15 and 25 per cent of normally capacity more than a week after all MOTs in Northern Ireland were suspended on safety grounds on 27 January 2020. Therefore, it is still likely to take months before the process is back at full speed.
